Description

Position Summary

The Network Administrator (JNY) supports SOCCENT network operations at MacDill Air Force Base. The position monitors, administers, troubleshoots, secures, and maintains LAN/WAN infrastructure and associated network services in accordance with Government policies and procedures. The Network Administrator performs initial triage, resolves or escalates network incidents, supports network upgrades and configuration validation, maintains technical documentation, and uses enterprise monitoring, cybersecurity, identity, and zero-trust technologies to sustain reliable network operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Monitor LAN and WAN equipment, circuits, and network links using enterprise monitoring tools.
• Perform initial triage, troubleshoot network issues, and resolve or escalate technical problems as appropriate.
• Serve as a technical specialist for network problems and emergency issues affecting established networks.
• Support network operations, expansion, security, and monitoring through intrusion detection systems, firewalls, VPN devices, and related tools.
• Work with Systems Engineering and senior team members on network design analysis, configuration validation, and assigned project work.
• Maintain network documentation, including CMDB information, as-built drawings, circuit inventories, equipment inventories, configurations, training materials, and network topologies.
• Accurately document hardware failures, repairs, installations, removals, incidents, and ticket resolution activity.
• Administer LAN/WAN-related network services in accordance with Government policies and procedures.
• Coordinate and implement network software and hardware upgrades.
• Troubleshoot and resolve LAN/WAN performance, connectivity, antivirus, spam control, and network security issues.
• Create monitoring reports and logs, verify link functionality, and support ongoing network performance reporting.
• Represent USSOCOM and interface with software and hardware vendors when support issues arise.
• Support identity and access management, SIEM, EDR, IPS, and zero-trust-related tools, which may include technologies from AppGate, Okta, Splunk, ForgeRock, Nutanix, Zscaler, Cisco, CrowdStrike, AWS, and similar vendors.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must possess an active DoW TS/SCI security clearance.
• Must be DoW 8140 compliant for Work Role Code 441 - Network Operations Specialist at the Intermediate proficiency level or higher.
• Must possess a DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification.
• Must possess a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.
• Minimum six (6) years of relevant experience with a high school diploma; four (4) years with an associate degree (AS/AA); or two (2) years with a bachelor’s degree (BS/BA).
• Demonstrated ability to communicate exceptionally well both orally and in writing.
• Strong customer-service orientation and a positive customer-service attitude.
• Strong, proactive team-player skills.

Desired Requirements

• Experience supporting USSOCOM or SOCCENT network environments.
• Experience with enterprise network monitoring and troubleshooting tools, including Riverbed Event Manager.
• Experience with IAM, SIEM, EDR, IPS, and zero-trust technologies or platforms such as AppGate, Okta, Splunk, ForgeRock, Nutanix, Zscaler, Cisco, CrowdStrike, and AWS.
