Job Description
We are seeking a Software Systems Engineer to support the development of advanced mission planning and decision-support solutions. This role combines systems engineering and product ownership responsibilities within an Agile software development environment. The ideal candidate will help transform customer needs into system and software requirements while collaborating closely with software developers, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver innovative capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze customer requirements and translate them into system and software specifications.
Perform requirements development, decomposition, and management throughout the engineering lifecycle.
Define system interfaces, workflows, and operational concepts.
Create and maintain user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical documentation.
Support Agile software development teams throughout design, implementation, and testing.
Develop engineering artifacts, reports, drawings, and formal documentation.
Conduct trade studies and support technical decision-making.
Participate in milestone reviews, design reviews, and engineering assessments.
Collaborate with stakeholders to refine requirements and integrate customer feedback.
Identify technical risks and support mitigation strategies.
Contribute to UI/UX concept development and validation activities.
Required Qualifications
Active DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain additional program access.
Experience in Systems Engineering, Requirements Engineering, or related technical disciplines.
Experience developing and managing system and software requirements.
Understanding of systems engineering processes and lifecycle activities.
Experience working in Agile development environments.
Ability to create and maintain technical documentation and engineering artifacts.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience serving as a Product Owner or similar role.
Familiarity with Microsoft Windows-based applications and cloud-hosted solutions.
Experience supporting software development teams.
Knowledge of interface control documentation, requirements flow-down, and verification activities.
Exposure to Linux environments.
Understanding of software development principles and technologies such as C++.
