Junior Data Engineer
Location: Remote
Clearance: Active U.S. Secret clearance required
Overview
We are seeking a Junior Data Engineer to build, test, and maintain scalable data integration solutions supporting the Department of Defense’s Advana platform. You will collaborate with engineers, analysts, and mission partners to develop efficient ETL/ELT workflows, improve data quality, and deliver reliable data for enterprise analytics.
Key Responsibilities
Build, optimize, and maintain Python-based pipelines to ingest, transform, and move data from multiple sources.
Implement and monitor ETL/ELT workflows using Databricks, Spark, and cloud data services.
Integrate and validate datasets within Advana and related DoD environments, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and performance.
Translate business and technical requirements into reusable, scalable data solutions.
Perform data quality checks, investigate root causes, and resolve pipeline and integration issues.
Maintain documentation for pipelines, schemas, and transformation logic.
Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and version control practices.
Collaborate with distributed technical teams and mission stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Active U.S. Secret clearance.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
At least 2 years of experience in data analysis or Python-based pipeline development.
Proficiency in Python, including pandas, PyArrow, Requests, and SQLAlchemy.
Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries in relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or Oracle.
Working knowledge of ETL/ELT, data modeling, and schema design.
Exposure to cloud or hybrid environments, such as AWS or Azure.
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Teams, and Slack.
