Duties

• Operates and monitors emergency communications to include dispatching emergency units.
• Direct patrol units in daily activities ensuring emergency preparedness.
• Queries National Crime Information Center (NCIC) databases to relay field information and prepare reports.
• Performs a broad range of law enforcement, investigation, crime prevention, traffic control, and community policing.
• Maintains documentation and physical accountability for weapons, ammunition and keys.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Requires Secret Clearance (Tier 3).
• This position requires an initial and periodic medical examination to assess your ability to take the Physical Ability Test and to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56 (The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program). Prior to appointment you must agree in writing to adhere to these conditions of employment.
• Incumbent must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
• This position requires you to pass the record Physical Ability Test (PAT) within 30 days of being hired and annually thereafter.
• Applicants must successfully graduate from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy within 12 months of hire date; unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exception from the Office of the Provost Marshal General (OPMG).
• Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
• This position requires the selectee to qualify annually for the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) as explained in IAW 190-56, Chapter 3.
• This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019 Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
• The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
• Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 5% of the time may be required.
• Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
• Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
• This position is designated as Mission Essential (IAW DODI 3024.42 and DTM 17-004) during Inclement Weather Conditions or other designed/identified emergency conditions.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work utilizing laws and regulations to maintain order or protect life or property; responding to calls for assistance or emergency situations; arresting or mirandizing suspects; conducting investigations of crimes or preserving evidence; conducting vehicle or foot patrols; or conducting personal or vehicle searches. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).

Education
