Senior Cybersecurity Engineer

Location: Remote in either Remote or Washington, DC

Our client is seeking a hands-on Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to help strengthen and scale cybersecurity programs and initiatives across their organization. This role involves designing, implementing, and managing security solutions to protect critical assets and infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement security strategies, policies, and procedures
• Conduct security assessments and vulnerability scans
• Implement and manage firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other security controls
• Respond to security incidents and conduct forensic analysis
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior cybersecurity professionals
• Collaborate with IT and business units to integrate security into all phases of the software development lifecycle

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (Master's preferred)
• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering
• Experience with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and vulnerability scanners
• Strong understanding of networking and system administration
• Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication and leadership abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or CISM
• Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Knowledge of application security and secure coding practices
• Experience with compliance requirements (HIPAA, PCI-DSS, etc.)
