Digital Forensics Specialist

Location: Alexandria, VA

Work Type: Hybrid 2-3 days per week on-site in Alexandria, VA

Our client seeks a digital forensics specialist to conduct network and media investigations, analyze digital evidence, and support legal proceedings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in forensic analysis, cybersecurity, and incident response.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough digital forensics investigations to identify and preserve digital evidence
• Analyze network traffic, logs, and media to determine the cause of security incidents
• Work closely with law enforcement and legal teams to support investigations and court proceedings
• Develop and maintain forensic tools and techniques for data recovery and analysis
• Provide expert testimony in legal cases as needed
• Collaborate with IT and security teams to implement preventive measures

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in digital forensics or a related field
• Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE) or similar certification preferred
• Strong knowledge of forensic analysis tools (e.g., EnCase, FTK, X-Ways)
• Experience with network forensics, malware analysis, and data recovery
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with government agencies or law enforcement
• Knowledge of legal requirements for digital evidence admissibility
• Experience with cloud forensics and mobile device forensics

Clearance: Secret clearance required
