Senior Software Engineer

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to provide development engineering and programming support for software projects and infrastructure support activities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, modernizing, and maintaining software applications, including developing new cloud-based applications and transitioning legacy systems to cloud environments.

This role requires experience with multiple programming languages, database architecture, software testing, and cloud services. The engineer will collaborate with customers, systems analysts, engineers, and development teams to deliver software solutions that meet operational and technical requirements.

What will you do?

• Design, develop, modify, and maintain software applications to support project requirements and infrastructure operations.
• Develop new applications within cloud environments and support the migration and modernization of legacy applications to the cloud.
• Provide database architecture and design capabilities to support application development and system performance.
• Develop unit and functional test plans to validate software functionality and reliability.
• Provide operations and maintenance (O&M) support for operational software systems.
• Modify existing software to correct errors, accommodate new hardware, improve performance, and address evolving requirements.
• Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine the feasibility of proposed designs within established time and cost constraints.
• Consult with customers regarding software system design, development, and maintenance.
• Coordinate software installation activities and monitor system and equipment functionality to ensure specifications are met.
• Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and evaluate design outcomes.
• Develop and direct software testing, validation procedures, programming activities, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, and other technical personnel to identify project limitations, system capabilities, performance requirements, and interface specifications.
• Troubleshoot software defects, implement corrective changes, and retest applications to verify expected results.
• Conduct trial runs of programs and software applications to validate functionality, data accuracy, and execution instructions.
• Develop and maintain documentation covering program development, modifications, and subsequent revisions, including clear and understandable code comments.
• Write, update, and maintain software programs and packages that support operational functions such as inventory tracking, data storage and retrieval, and equipment control.
• Consult with management, engineering, and technical personnel to clarify program objectives, identify issues, and recommend improvements.
• Perform or direct the revision, repair, and expansion of existing applications to improve operational efficiency and accommodate new requirements.
• Write, analyze, review, and revise programs using workflow charts, diagrams, and established programming principles.
• Develop user instructions and technical manuals to support software operation and maintenance.
• Prepare detailed workflow charts and diagrams describing system inputs, outputs, and operational logic, and translate those designs into executable code.

Do you have what it takes?

• Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
• Bachelor of Science (BS) degree and 11-15 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience with multiple programming languages, including Java, JavaScript, Python, and/or XML.
• Experience developing, managing, and maintaining web-based software applications.
• Demonstrated experience working with cloud services and developing cloud-based applications.
• Experience working within Windows and/or Unix operating environments.
• Experience using source code repositories and version control tools such as Git.
• Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining technical documentation, including source code documentation and development methodologies.
• Familiarity with developing and executing unit and integration tests.
