AI/ML Engineer

Position Description:

We are seeking an AI/ML Engineer to support the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) and the Defense Agencies Initiative (DAI), a large scale Oracle E Business Suite (EBS) federal financial management environment hosted in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

This role designs and implements OCI native AI Agents and supporting services that ingest federal financial policy documents, ground responses in authoritative data, and deliver secure, governed retrieval augmented generation (RAG) capabilities. The engineer will develop managed LLM workflows, embeddings, retrieval pipelines, and API endpoints used for policy interpretation, impact analysis, governance, and audit ready transparency.

This position is remote and can be located anywhere in the Continental United States.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

. Build and configure OCI Generative AI Agents to perform RAG workflows including retrieval, chunking, embeddings, reranking, and citation generation using enterprise AI models.
. Ingest and process policy documents (USSGL, TFM bulletins, SFIS/SLOA guidance, SOPs) stored in OCI Object Storage, preparing them as Agent knowledge sources.
. Develop secure, OpenAI compatible LLM and embedding API endpoints through OCI Generative AI for downstream services and reporting.
. Publish RAG and LLM endpoints via OCI API Gateway, implementing request validation, authentication, rate controls, and logging in accordance with enterprise governance.
. Integrate GenAI outputs into compliance workflows, RCA processes, and governance pipelines in collaboration with validation engineers, architects, and analytics teams.
. Optimize retrieval accuracy, embeddings relevance, chunking strategies, and prompt design to produce consistent, traceable, audit ready responses.
. Create documentation, API specifications, operational runbooks, and guidance for stakeholders interacting with RAG/LLM services.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

. 5+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, NLP development, or enterprise data applications.
. Hands on experience with LLM APIs, embeddings, retrieval workflows, and building RAG style AI applications.
. Experience with cloud native AI services (OCI Generative AI, or equivalent managed LLM platforms).
. Proficiency with Python or similar languages for AI pipeline development.
. Experience designing and deploying REST APIs, OpenAPI based interfaces, and secure API integrations.
. Ability to obtain/maintain IT II Non Critical Sensitive security clearance or Tier 3 (T3) investigation suitability.
Desired qualifications/non essential skills required:
. Experience with federal financial policy data, enterprise knowledge bases, or compliance driven analytical environments.
. Familiarity with Oracle EBS Financials or ERP posting logic concepts.
. Experience with OCI services (API Gateway, Logging/Monitoring, Object Storage, IAM).
. Strong analytical and structured thinking for interpreting complex policy content.
. Excellent communication and collaboration across functional, technical, and stakeholder groups.
. Comfortable operating in regulated, audit focused federal environments.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $113,400.00 $223,200.00.
