Acquisition Logistician, Journeyman

Position Overview

The Acquisition Logistician (Journeyman) performs critical planning, development, implementation, and management tasks to support a comprehensive, affordable, and effective systems support strategy. Acting as a key interface for Program Office and Staff Level Support, this position works independently to apply established logistics procedures and troubleshoot complex challenges to ensure successful program outcomes. This role is heavily focused on SPERs (Support Product Evaluation Reports) and Long Range Depot Plan (LRDP) management. Additionally, the selected candidate will process Requirement Correlation Records (RCRs) and coordinate extensively with Major Commands (MAJCOM) to secure necessary funding and resources. The Journeyman Acquisition Logistician supports weapon systems throughout their entire acquisition life cycle-including Materiel Solution Analysis, Technology Maturation and Risk Reduction, Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD), Production and Deployment, and Operations and Support phases.

Key Responsibilities:
Systems Support Strategy

• Manage SPERs (Support Product Evaluation Reports).
• Support Long Range Depot Plan (LRDP) management.
• Process Requirement Correlation Records (RCRs) and coordinate extensively with Major Commands (MAJCOM) to secure necessary funding and resources.
• Assist in producing, reviewing, and validating key acquisition and sustainment logistics documentation.
• Support program milestones across all lifecycle phases (Materiel Solution Analysis, EMD, Production, and Operations & Support).
• Apply a practical understanding of the Air Force's 12 product support elements in compliance with the Product Support Manager's Guidebook.
• Identify and recommend opportunities to reduce weapon system total ownership costs.

Life Cycle Management & Strategy

• Assist in managing and coordinating total cradle-to-grave life cycle logistics support for assigned weapon systems or subsystems.
• Integrate distinct functions of supply, maintenance, procurement, and quality assurance into seamless logistics activities.
• Monitor functional and organizational compliance with established milestones and performance criteria.
• Evaluate the continuous status and effectiveness of program support to ensure plans and time-phased schedules are followed.
• Analyze deficiencies, perform schedule risk assessments, identify conflicting objectives, and propose mitigation strategies to the US Government (USG).

Logistics Policy, Guidance & Contracting

• Apply working knowledge of logistics policies, including Title 10 United States Code Section 2466 (Limitations on the Performance of Depot-Level Maintenance) and other relevant Air Force systems and policies.
• Utilize system life cycle concepts and theories of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) planning and execution to integrate logistics functions into a structured program.
• Provide acquisition support by performing material solution analyses, drafting technical documentation, and preparing program presentation materials.
• Correlate specific requirements for funding, manpower, materials, facilities, and services to support the program.
• Coordinate system transfer into operational use and establish relationships between key program participants.

Logistics and Maintainability Support

• Support logistics and maintainability programs, including product support Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Cost (RAM-C) program test and evaluation planning and execution.
• Perform technical evaluations to identify weapon systems logistics requirements and resources.
• Conduct budgetary/financial analyses and life cycle cost analyses.
• Ensure Automated Information System (AIS) hardware and software standardization and compatibility.
• Collect, compile, analyze, and research logistics, maintenance, acquisition, and financial data.
• Prepare and validate documentation for automated logistics or maintenance reporting systems.

Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Implementation

• Coordinate and monitor ILS implementation and acquisition projects throughout execution.
• Integrate taskings across different functional organizations.
• Advise the USG on appropriate actions to keep projects on track and resolve conflicts concerning policy or programmatic schedules.

Required Experience

One of the following combinations of education/experience:

• • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS), and ten (10) years of experience in the technical/professional discipline, three (3) of which must be in the DoD; OR
  • HS diploma, and fifteen (15) years of directly related experience, five (5) of which must be in the DoD.
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams), Adobe Acrobat, and internet browsers.
• U.S. Citizenship required; Ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret security clearance required.

Preferred Experience

• Prior USAF/DoD supply system experience supporting aviation.

• Experience with D043 system.

• Experience coordinating with Item Managers.

• Experience with Depot Source of Repair (DSOR).

• Experience with Sustainment One-year Requirements Analysis (SORA).

• Ability to work independently, apply proper procedures, problem-solve, and troubleshoot various situations.
