About This Role
We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to provide software development support to the Sponsor's mission in Chantilly, VA. In this role, you'll draw on a deep background in programming, operating systems, and networking to solve the Sponsor's collection needs. You'll analyze unknown software and network traffic to understand how applications and services communicate, then build Python and JavaScript software that mimics that behavior. You'll deploy and integrate your work on AWS serverless and container services using the AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK). The work also includes building Linux systems from scratch, writing complex shell scripts, standing up testing harnesses, and translating mission needs into technical requirements for the Sponsor. This is a hands-on seat for an engineer who enjoys taking systems apart to understand them and then building dependable software around what they find.
Compensation
$250,000 - $300,000 (depending on experience)

Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain software in Python, JavaScript, and at least one additional back-end language in support of Sponsor collection needs
Analyze unknown software code to identify relevant fields and determine its behavior, then build software that mimics that behavior
Analyze browser and network traffic to understand client/server communications and requests
Define and deploy AWS infrastructure with the AWS CDK, integrating services such as Lambda, S3, Batch, EC2, EventBridge, SNS, SQS, IAM, DynamoDB, and containers
Install and configure Linux systems from scratch and develop complex Unix shell scripts
Build software system testing harnesses and implement continuous testing practices
Transform data from varied file formats into common formats such as JSON, CSV, and XML
Perform systems administration for the environments you build and support
Gather mission needs and translate them into technical requirements for Sponsor consideration
Document and communicate technical and non-technical requirements for all audiences
Collaborate with technical teams across multiple organizational boundaries
Requirements
Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph
Deep experience in software development
Demonstrated experience programming in Python
Demonstrated experience programming in JavaScript
Ability to program efficiently in at least one other back-end (not UI) language besides Python and JavaScript
Demonstrated experience analyzing unknown software code and extracting relevant fields to determine and mimic its behavior
Demonstrated experience analyzing browser and network traffic to understand client/server communications and requests
Demonstrated experience using the AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK); CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar tools are not substitutes
Demonstrated experience integrating AWS cloud services, including Lambda functions and layers, S3, Batch, EC2, EventBridge, SNS, SQS, IAM roles, DynamoDB, and container services
Demonstrated experience leveraging a background in programming, software tools and packages, operating systems, and networking to solve collection needs
Ability to develop a software system testing harness or implement a continuous testing methodology on a project
Demonstrated experience installing Linux from scratch and developing complex Unix shell scripts
Experience in systems administration
Demonstrated experience transforming data in various file formats into common formats such as JSON, CSV, or XML
Ability to gather mission needs and transform them into technical requirements for Sponsor consideration
Demonstrated experience documenting and communicating technical and non-technical mission requirements for all audiences
Demonstrated experience working with other technical teams across multiple organizational boundaries
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience with reverse engineering tools such as IDA Pro, Ghidra, JADX, or APKtool
Demonstrated experience with multiple cloud providers
Demonstrated experience with additional programming languages beyond Python
Prior experience supporting the Sponsor or other IC customers
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
