We are seeking an experienced Senior Product Owner to support the Air Force to help in developing and operating modernized applications that are used daily by the warfighter. This is an exciting new initiative where the Air Force is mirroring Silicon Valley processes and capabilities to quickly deploy new capabilities. Candidates must be passionate, energized, and excited to work on modern architectures and solve challenging problems for our clients.

Position Description (what you will do)

  • Own the product backlog and roadmap for the Data Operations platform - the data pipelines, lakehouse, and infrastructure that ingest, validate, and expose mission data to downstream consumers - translating government customer needs into clearly defined, prioritized requirements for the engineering team.
  • Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact with the government customer, building and maintaining the trust and relationship needed to surface real requirements, manage expectations, and resolve issues before they become blockers.
  • Clearly articulate requirements, delivery schedules, and team capacity to both the customer and internal leadership, balancing customer expectations against what the team can realistically deliver.
  • Manage competing priorities across the team's workstreams (new data source onboarding, pipeline reliability, platform infrastructure, and DevSecOps/compliance needs), making and defending trade-off decisions with the team and customer.
  • Partner with the Data Engineers, Platform Engineers, and DevSecOps Engineers to plan and sequence work, maintaining a working understanding of how the data pipelines (Debezium/MSK, Spark, Airflow), the Iceberg-based lakehouse, and the underlying AWS/Kubernetes platform fit together well enough to have informed technical conversations.
  • Lead sprint planning, backlog grooming, demos, and retrospectives, ensuring the team stays focused on the highest-value work.
  • Own status reporting and delivery communication to the government customer and Omni leadership, flagging risks and schedule changes early.
  • Own assigned product ownership tasking independently - translate ambiguous customer direction into a clear, actionable plan - with oversight and guidance available from leadership as needed.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of professional experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar role, including direct ownership of a product backlog and roadmap in an agile delivery environment.
  • Demonstrated exceptional customer relationship management skills, with a track record of building trust with government or enterprise customers.
  • Strong ability to clearly articulate requirements, delivery schedules, and team capacity to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and make defensible trade-off decisions under schedule and resource constraints.
  • Working technical knowledge of how the team's data pipeline and platform tools fit together - roughly Mid-level engineering depth - sufficient to have informed conversations about data flow, feasibility, and sequencing across ingestion, processing, and platform infrastructure.
  • Experience running agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog grooming, demos, retrospectives) for a delivery team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently against ambiguous customer direction, with oversight and guidance available from leadership as needed.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community programs, particularly Platform One or other DoD software factory environments.
  • Experience owning products involving data pipelines, streaming architectures, or data lakehouse platforms.
  • Certification in agile/product ownership practices (e.g., CSPO, SAFe POPM).
  • Familiarity with modern cloud data platform architectures (streaming ingestion, Spark/EMR, Kubernetes) sufficient to engage credibly with the engineering team.
  • Experience translating security/compliance requirements (e.g., ATO/RMF) into product requirements

Our team is always hungry for more - more knowledge, more problem solving, more growth, more innovation, and, ultimately, customer success. This hunger and hustle fuel our determination to excel in everything we do. It's not just about meeting established goals; it's about exceeding them. We take immense pride in applying our expertise in cutting-edge technologies and our ability to adapt to emerging trends directly to the users in the field, as our nation's protectors deserve nothing less.
