Job Description

Overview:
By Light is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team in support of critical national security programs. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in systems engineering, with a focus on complex system integration and test activities. This position will involve close collaboration with government customers and internal stakeholders to ensure successful system delivery and operational readiness.

Responsibilities:

• Lead system integration and test planning, execution, and reporting for complex systems.
• Develop and maintain system requirements, functional flow diagrams, and interface control documents.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure system requirements are met and issues are resolved.
• Conduct system-level testing and analysis to validate system performance and compliance with requirements.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and other team members.
• Support customer reviews, audits, and other technical activities as required.
• Maintain current knowledge of systems engineering best practices and emerging technologies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Systems, or related field) required; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in systems engineering, with at least 5 years in complex system integration and test.
• Experience with systems engineering methodologies (e.g., INCOSE, IEEE) and tools (e.g., DOORS, Rhapsody).
• Strong understanding of system requirements, functional flow, and interface control documents.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Active DoD security clearance required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with specific government programs or systems of interest.
• Knowledge of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and related tools.
• Experience with agile development methodologies.
• Familiarity with cyber security principles and practices.
