Position Summary

BDR Solutions is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Junior UI/UX Specialist to support a Department of Defense customer. This position will contribute to the design, development, and enhancement of user-centered digital solutions that support critical intelligence and mission-focused programs.

The ideal candidate will combine strong visual design skills with an understanding of user experience principles to create professional-grade products, improve user engagement, and support mission effectiveness. This role requires collaboration with government stakeholders, software development teams, and program leadership in a secure environment.

Responsibilities
  • Design intuitive, user-centered interfaces for web and mobile applications.
  • Create and maintain professional-quality deliverables, including:
  • Functional Requirements Documents (FRDs)
  • Training guides and user documentation
  • Briefing materials and presentations
  • Graphic designs and marketing-style slick sheets
  • Wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes
  • System diagrams and process flows
  • Images, logos, templates, and multimedia content
  • Support the planning, preparation, facilitation, and documentation of Working Groups (WGs).
  • Assist with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities, including test planning, execution support, feedback collection, and documentation.
  • Conduct user research and incorporate findings into design recommendations.
  • Develop wireframes, user flows, information architectures, and high-fidelity prototypes.
  • Ensure all products comply with Section 508 accessibility standards and responsive design principles.
  • Maintain design documentation, specifications, user journeys, and design rationale.
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, government stakeholders, and cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements in user experience, usability, and design consistency across applications.
  • Support Agile software development processes and participate in Agile ceremonies.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), User Experience Design, Visual Communications, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of professional experience designing user interfaces for web and/or mobile applications.
  • Experience creating wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and user flows.
  • Proficiency with one or more industry-standard design tools, including: Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch
  • Working knowledge of: User-centered design methodologies, User research techniques, Information architecture, Usability testing and Responsive web design
  • Experience creating professional presentations, graphics, and visual communications products. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.

Clearance Requirement: Active TS/SCI clearance required. Active CI Polygraph required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community (IC), or Federal Government programs.
  • Previous experience supporting CI, HUMINT, or other intelligence-related mission environments.
  • Familiarity with government design systems and secure development environments.
  • Experience facilitating stakeholder workshops, design reviews, or user working groups.
  • Knowledge of design handoff processes and collaboration with software development teams.
  • Experience producing multimedia content, animations, or video clips.


The compensation range for this position is $100,000-130,000. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to location, skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.

In addition, U.S Citizenship is required. Applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and be able to obtain a government-granted security clearance.
