ServiceNow Automated Test Engineer

ServiceNow Automated Test Engineer to support the VA ESOM ServiceNow Operations and Maintenance program. This role owns automated test coverage across the platform, using the ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF) to validate releases, upgrades, and configuration changes before they reach production. The Automated Test Engineer works closely with developers, business analysts, and release management to keep regression testing fast, repeatable, and aligned with the program’s sprint cadence, reducing manual testing burden and catching defects earlier in the delivery lifecycle.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain automated test suites and reusable test steps using the ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF)
• Develop ATF coverage for new features, configuration changes, and platform upgrades in alignment with sprint releases
• Execute automated regression test runs ahead of releases and semi-annual ServiceNow platform upgrades
• Integrate ATF execution into release management and CI/CD workflows to support consistent, repeatable test cycles
• Analyze automated test failures, triage results, and partner with developers to isolate root cause and drive resolution
• Maintain test data, test environments, and configuration baselines needed for reliable automated execution
• Translate acceptance criteria and user stories into ATF test scenarios in collaboration with business analysts
• Track and report automation coverage, pass and fail trends, and release readiness metrics to program leadership
• Supplement automated coverage with manual testing where automation is not yet feasible or cost effective

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree
• 8 or more years of ServiceNow testing or quality assurance experience
• Significant, hands on experience building, maintaining, and executing ServiceNow ATF test suites, with the ability to own automated test coverage independently and with minimal oversight
• Ability to create logical and functional automated test code and scripts across a variety of ServiceNow modules and scenarios, understand the benefits and risks associated with different testing and automation approaches in different functional environments, and react to and correct problems as necessary
• Working knowledge of core ServiceNow modules and platform architecture (ITSM, ITOM, CSM, or similar)
• Experience with defect tracking and test management tools
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
• Experience with ServiceNow Test Management 2.0
• Scripting experience in JavaScript and familiarity with REST or SOAP APIs to support advanced ATF steps and API based testing
• Experience testing ServiceNow implementations in a federal environment
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps release practices
