Blu Omega is seeking two Senior Data Engineers to support data modernization and analytics initiatives. This role is responsible for designing, building, and optimizing enterprise-scale data platforms supporting mission-critical data science and analytics within a hybrid work environment.

Location: Ashburn, VA or the Washington, DC / Maryland / Virginia area

Clearance / Suitability: Public Trust eligibility required

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade ETL/ELT pipelines using Python and SQL
• Build, optimize, and manage scalable data models, data warehouses, data lakes, and lakehouse environments using technologies such as Databricks
• Ingest, clean, validate, transform, and integrate large-scale datasets from various sources including APIs, relational databases, flat files, and unstructured data
• Design data schemas and models that support analytics, reporting, and data science initiatives
• Implement data quality, metadata management, governance, and security controls to ensure trustworthy data
• Collaborate with cloud engineering teams to deploy and manage data solutions within Microsoft Azure
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines for performance and reliability using logging, alerting, and CI/CD practices
• Partner with data scientists and analysts to develop data structures supporting evolving analytical requirements
• Document architecture, pipeline logic, data flows, and procedures for maintainability

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or related technical roles
• 6+ years of hands-on experience with Python and SQL, including developing scalable ETL/ELT pipelines
• 2+ years of experience working with cloud data ecosystems such as Azure Data Factory
• 1+ years of experience with modern data processing and lakehouse technologies like Databricks
• Strong knowledge of data integration from diverse sources and formats
• Understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, data modeling, and architecture
• Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance principles
• Bachelor's degree in a related field
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting federal government or regulated environments
• Prior experience with CDC data environments
• Cloud or data engineering certifications, such as Microsoft Azure certifications

Compensation

Salary Range: $150,000.00 - $165,000.00

Final compensation is based on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance.
