Responsibilities
- Serve as a VistA subject matter expert supporting application development, integration, modernization, and sustainment initiatives.
- Analyze VistA applications, workflows, data structures, files, routines, interfaces, and system dependencies.
- Translate business, clinical, and operational requirements into functional and technical requirements for development and engineering teams.
- Assess proposed application and interface changes to identify downstream impacts, dependencies, risks, and compatibility considerations within the VistA environment.
- Provide technical and functional guidance to developers, architects, analysts, testers, DevSecOps engineers, and product teams working with VistA.
- Support analysis and troubleshooting of complex application, data, interface, and production issues.
- Assist teams in understanding VistA FileMan structures, Data Dictionary definitions, globals, routines, RPCs, and other application components.
- Provide guidance on VistA interfaces and integrations with healthcare applications and services.
- Support requirements validation, testing, deployment planning, implementation, and post-deployment activities.
- Review technical designs, requirements, test scenarios, and implementation approaches for alignment with VistA standards.
- Document VistA architecture, workflows, data relationships, interfaces, dependencies, and operational processes.
- Collaborate with VA stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure solutions meet mission, clinical, and operational needs.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years supporting VistA applications, VA healthcare technology, or closely related federal health IT environments.
- Deep functional and technical knowledge of the VistA ecosystem, including application architecture, workflows, data structures, interfaces, and dependencies.
- Strong understanding of VistA FileMan, Data Dictionary, globals, routines, RPCs, and application configuration.
- Experience analyzing VistA applications and impacts of system enhancements, integrations, and modernization.
- Supportive experience with VistA interfaces, data exchanges, and system integrations.
- Ability to interpret complex VistA concepts and translate into clear requirements and technical guidance.
- Troubleshooting expertise in VistA application, data, workflow, or integration issues.
- Experience supporting software testing, deployment, and sustainment activities within VA environments.
- Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to obtain and maintain government credentials, including a PIV card if applicable.
Compensation
Salary Range: $140,000 - $155,000
Final compensation is based on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance.
