Software Systems Engineer
OASYS, INC., a Leading-Edge Government contractor in Huntsville Alabama, is seeking applicants for a Software Systems Engineer position supporting our US Army customer.
Job Responsibilities include: The Software Systems Engineer will apply structured analytical thinking across the entire system lifecycle within an Agile development framework. You will play a key role in shaping requirements, producing technical artifacts, and ensuring effective coordination across engineering disciplines to enable mission success.
Key Responsibilities:
Systems Engineering & Analysis: Lead full‑spectrum systems engineering activities for Precision Fires efforts, using analytical reasoning to address complex system‑of‑systems challenges.
Requirements Management: Create, evaluate, and maintain both new and existing system requirements throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle.
Direct DOORS Utilization: Independently work within IBM DOORS (9.7.x) to manage requirements data. Responsibilities include building traceability, creating module objects, and generating Requirement Verification Matrices (RVMs) without the support of a dedicated DOORS administrator.
Agile Collaboration: Operate effectively within an Agile environment, participating in routine scrum events and using Microsoft Azure DevOps (ADO) for requirement tracking and team coordination.
Cross‑Functional Alignment: Integrate and synchronize system requirements with key partner domains, including Software Safety, Test, and Cybersecurity.
Technical Documentation: Develop, revise, and sustain clear and accurate technical documents and system specifications.
Minimum Requirements:
2+ years' of work experience
Lifecycle Expertise: Strong background supporting systems engineering across the complete software development lifecycle.
Domain Knowledge: A solid understanding of, or direct experience working with, systems engineering throughout the Army Acquisition Life Cycle is considered a very strong plus.
Tool Proficiency:
Demonstrated hands-on experience with IBM DOORS (9.7.x) for active data and requirement management.
Experience using Microsoft Azure DevOps (ADO) for requirements support is highly desired.
Interdisciplinary Analysis: Proven ability to analyze complex requirements and understand their cascading impacts on software testing, system safety, and cyber defense protocols.
Required Education: A Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (STEM, computer science, or computer engineering, etc.) is required. Advanced degree preferred.
Eligibility: Candidates must have the ability to obtain and maintain an Active Secret Clearance. An Active Secret Clearance is highly desired.
