## The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced **SAP Transportation Management (TM) Event Management Subject Matter Expert (SME)** to support a large-scale Joint Transportation Management System (JTMS) implementation.
This role will design, configure, integrate, test, and support transportation event management capabilities that provide end-to-end visibility into logistics movements, milestones, exceptions, alerts, and operational status.
You will partner with government stakeholders, functional leads, technical teams, and integration partners to translate transportation requirements into SAP-enabled processes that improve visibility, control, auditability, and mission readiness within a Department of Defense (DoD) environment.
An active Secret clearance is required. Candidates without a current Secret clearance may be considered for company-sponsored processing, contingent upon contract requirements and client approval.
## Responsibilities
* Serve as the functional authority for SAP TM Event Management, including event capture, milestone tracking, exception handling, alerts, notifications, and process visibility.
* Translate operational requirements into functional specifications, user stories, process flows, and solution designs aligned with SAP S/4HANA, SAP TM, and the enterprise integration architecture.
* Guide configuration across transportation milestones, freight order and freight unit tracking, event profiles, expected and actual events, exception monitoring, and visibility dashboards.
* Ensure alignment across SAP TM, EWM, MM, SD, GTS, master data, reporting, interfaces, and external carrier or logistics event feeds.
* Recommend improvements related to process standardization, system utilization, data quality, governance, and organizational change.
* Validate configured solutions against business requirements, operational scenarios, exception workflows, and reporting needs.
* Support testing, deployment planning, data readiness, cutover, defect triage, user readiness, and transition to operations.
* Develop training materials, user guidance, process documentation, standard operating procedures, and operational playbooks.
* Identify adoption risks and recommend enhancements based on operational data, user feedback, defect trends, and evolving mission needs.
## Required Qualifications
**Education**
* Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
**Experience**
* 10+ years of progressive SAP, logistics, supply chain, transportation management, or enterprise systems experience, including at least 5 years focused on SAP TM and/or transportation event management.
* Experience supporting SAP TM implementations, enhancements, sustainment, or modernization efforts in large enterprise, federal, or DoD environments.
* Hands-on experience with transportation event tracking, milestones, status management, exception handling, alerts, notifications, visibility processes, and operational reporting.
* Experience translating operational requirements into functional designs, configuration guidance, integration requirements, test scenarios, and user documentation.
* Knowledge of end-to-end transportation processes, including planning, execution, carrier coordination, freight order management, shipment visibility, settlement touchpoints, and exception resolution.
* Ability to support government stakeholders, compliance and design reviews, requirements traceability, and regulated implementation environments.
* Ability to travel 10%, approximately every 12 weeks, to Scott AFB.
* Secret clearance is required.
## Technical Skills
* Advanced functional knowledge of SAP TM, including freight orders, freight units, transportation planning, execution, tracking, and integration.
* Strong understanding of expected and actual events, event handlers, milestone monitoring, exception management, alerting, and visibility reporting.
* Working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA logistics and integration with EWM, MM, SD, GTS, FI/CO, and master data governance.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio.
* Experience with Jira, Solution Manager, Signavio, or similar requirements, process modeling, testing, and delivery tools.
* Familiarity with data quality, auditability, traceability, role-based access, cybersecurity, and DoD or federal reporting requirements.
