Job Overview:
The Electrician supports facility operations and maintenance at Defense Supply Center Columbus by inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, modifying, and installing electrical equipment. The position performs preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with service orders, the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70E, applicable codes, and contract requirements.
Support Hours: Applicant shall be available during core work hours as established the Government customer.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical power distribution and utilization systems operating up to 600 volts.
- Install, maintain, modify, troubleshoot, and repair switches, receptacles, lighting fixtures, furniture wiring, conduit systems, motors, controllers, circuit breakers, and related equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, layouts, schematics, service orders, and technical specifications.
- Locate and diagnose electrical faults using appropriate hand tools, meters, and testing instruments.
- Respond promptly to demand work orders for interior, perimeter, exit, and emergency lighting issues.
- Replace failed lamps with approved energy-efficient LED lamps and repair or replace defective ballasts, starters, fixtures, and related components.
- Inspect building-mounted perimeter lighting monthly during daylight and after dark and correct identified deficiencies.
- Inspect and functionally test battery-powered emergency and exit lighting monthly and perform the required annual 90-minute simulated power-outage test.
- Operate and maintain lighting-control systems in accordance with approved sequences of operation and document approved adjustments or overrides.
- Coordinate planned outages and service interruptions through established procedures while minimizing disruption to mission-critical operations.
- Follow lockout/tagout, electrical-safety, hazard-control, PPE, and Activity Hazard Analysis requirements.
- Maintain clean, orderly work areas and safeguard Government property, tools, and equipment.

- Commercial and industrial electrical troubleshooting.

- Preventive maintenance and root-cause diagnosis.
- NFPA 70/70E and OSHA safety compliance.

Minimum Requirements/Education:
- Current journeyman commercial/industrial electrician license issued by a state or other accredited board.
- At least four years of journeyman-level experience obtained within the past seven years inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, operating, and performing preventive maintenance on electrical power systems.
- Qualified person status as defined by NFPA 70 and NFPA 70E.
- All licenses and certifications required by applicable federal, state, and local jurisdictions for assigned work.
- Ability to complete required site, safety, security, base access, and annual refresher training.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience maintaining electrical systems in a large commercial, industrial, military, or federal facility.
- Experience with computerized maintenance or Government work-order systems such as EBS Plant Maintenance.
- Experience with lighting automation controls, emergency lighting, and mission-critical facilities.
Security Requirement:
- Must satisfy installation access and background-screening requirements and obtain and maintain DBIDS credentials and a Common Access Card (CAC), as applicable.
