Title: Systems Engineer – GPS Receivers
Location: Cedar Rapids, IA – Onsite
Duration: 12-months W-2 contract with possibility for extension
Work Authorization: Must have an Active DoD Secret Clearance to qualified
Overview
We are seeking a Systems Engineer to support the development, integration, verification, and qualification of military GPS receiver technologies, including anti-jam and anti-spoofing solutions. This role supports software and systems-level testing activities throughout the systems engineering lifecycle and works closely with hardware, firmware, FPGA, and software engineering teams. The ideal candidate has strong Python expertise, experience with hardware/software integration, and a background in system-level testing and verification. Due to the classified nature of the work and the use of specialized equipment, this position requires full-time onsite support in Cedar Rapids, IA.
Responsibilities
• Support systems engineering activities across requirements development, integration, verification, validation, qualification, and customer support.
• Develop, execute, and maintain software and systems-level test procedures for GPS receiver products and related technologies.
• Design and enhance automated test solutions using Python.
• Perform hardware/software integration testing and troubleshoot complex system-level issues.
• Analyze test results, document findings, and provide technical recommendations.
• Verify system performance against requirements and support formal qualification efforts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to resolve technical challenges and improve product performance.
• Prepare technical reports, test documentation, and engineering presentations.
• Support customer demonstrations, test events, and program reviews as required.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, software test engineering, integration and test, or a related technical field.
• Strong proficiency in Python for test development and automation.
• Experience with software testing and/or systems-level testing.
• Experience working at the hardware/software interface.
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex system integration issues.
• Strong verbal and written technical communication skills.
• Ability to work full-time onsite in a classified laboratory environment in Cedar Rapids, IA.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with signal processing, waveform verification, RF systems, communications systems, or related technologies.
• Prior experience supporting Department of Defense programs.
• Embedded systems development or testing experience.
• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
• Experience with systems engineering and requirements management tools such as DOORS, Jama, or Jira.
• Working knowledge of C and/or C++.
• Experience supporting GPS, navigation, positioning, or other mission-critical defense systems.
