Church in Pittsford, NY is seeking a dependable Part-Time Sexton (Church Custodian) to help maintain the church building and grounds and support church services and events.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness and general appearance of the church.
• Clean and straighten areas after services and events.
• Assist with setup and breakdown for church events and activities.
• Support funeral services as needed, including cleanup and coffee/refreshment setup.
• Help with basic building maintenance and minor repairs.
• Assist with general upkeep of bathrooms, kitchen, hallways, and common areas.
• Move tables, chairs, and other items as needed.
• Perform basic security checks after services and events.
• Work independently and take initiative with routine tasks.

Schedule

• Approximately 20-30 hours per week, depending on church activities and events.
• Sunday availability is required.
• Some shifts may be approximately 8:00 AM-12:00 PM or 8:00 AM-2:00 PM.
• Additional hours may be needed for funerals, weddings, holidays, and special events.
• Schedule may vary from week to week.

Qualifications

• Reliable, responsible, and comfortable working independently.
• Professional, friendly, and respectful when working with staff and church members.
• Basic maintenance or custodial experience preferred.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, and using a ladder.
• Must be respectful of the church environment.
• Confidential background check required.
