BAE Systems is looking for an experienced Guidance, Navigation and Controls Engineer to work on a team of GNC Engineers solving complex problems and bringing new technologies to market.
This is a technical position performing guidance, navigation and control algorithm design and assessment for precision guided munition systems from concept to deployment who also project managers the scope of work and budget and helping keep the project staffed appropriately. The primary focus of this position is keeping technical projects on track. The Guidance, Navigation and Control Group is responsible for all requirements, trade studies, algorithm designs and performance assessments required to develop products that navigate, guide and fly precisely and accurately.

Full-Time Salary Range: $132962 - $226035
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

In this position, you will:
- Design, evaluation and optimization of aided navigation systems, target track filters, mid-course and terminal guidance algorithms
- Assessment and integration of strapdown seekers, GPS receivers, radar data, and inertial measurement units
- Flight test support, data reduction and verification
- Use Kalman filtering, and other estimation techniques, to provided aided navigation solutions, target state estimates and other observers for guided flight
- Apply digital signal processing techniques and navigation system error assessments to verify sensor and filter performance
- Generate preflight performance predictions and adjust based on post flight reconstruction and evaluation
- Develop, modify, and maintain software tools to include evaluation of nominal and Monte Carlo flight conditions at various levels of modeling fidelity
- Prepare presentations, reports, research, and other contract artifacts related to designs, evaluations, and tests performed
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Typically a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or Applied Mathematics or Applied Physics and 8+ years of experience in Guidance, Navigation or Controls theory, test and evaluation.
- Experience developing and verifying models in at least one area (ideally all areas) of concept flight systems and subsystems , radar systems, GPS/GNSS, launch platforms, inertial measurement units, magnetometers.
- Experience managing technical projects including staffing, schedule and budget.
- Experience performing systems engineering trade studies, assessment of alternatives, sensitivity evaluation, etc.
- Extensive experience with modeling and simulation using Simulink and Matlab.
- Proactive engineer with excellent interpersonal skills.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Experience as a technical lead within the GNC discipline.
- Current Department of War Secret Clearance.
- PhD in Electrical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or Applied Mathematics or Applied Physics.
- Experience with requirements, stability, and mission effectiveness analysis.
- Proven experience at developing, testing, and refining flight algorithms (navigation filters, track filters, air data estimation, autopilots, guidance algorithms).
- Recent task management experience in an engineering development environment (schedule and budget tracking/work package management) ideally Earned Value Management Systems.
- Demonstrated experience interfacing with customers.
- Working knowledge of C/C++.
