Job Description

PDS Defense, Inc. is seeking a CNC Machine Operator, in Austin, TX.

Job Description:

Seeking a CNC Operator/Manufacturing Technician to help run and support a small automated machining cell producing precision robotics components. This is a production environment; we are running the same parts constantly.
This is not a traditional one-machine, one-operator role. You will be responsible for monitoring and supporting multiple CNC machines, starting with around three machines and potentially growing to five as the cell expands. The machines will be equipped with automation such as robots, bar feeders, parts catchers, and other production support equipment.
This role is a great fit for someone reliable, hands-on, detail-oriented, and interested in modern manufacturing. Some days may involve basic part loading and machine tending, but the broader responsibility is keeping an automated machining cell running smoothly, safely, and efficiently.
The ideal candidate is not just looking to stand at a machine and press a button all day. We are looking for someone who wants to understand the process, keep things moving, notice problems before they become bigger issues, and help improve the way the cell operates.
There is plenty of room to grow for someone who wants to do more. As the manufacturing team expands, this role could develop into additional responsibilities in setup support, inspection, process improvement, automation support, or production leadership.

Responsibilities
* Monitor multiple CNC machines during production
* Load or refill bar feeders, robots, and other automation systems as needed
* Remove finished parts from parts catchers or collection systems
* Move finished parts through basic post-processing steps such as tumbling, cleaning, and prep
* Inspect parts visually and with measuring tools to ensure quality
* Refill coolant and perform basic machine upkeep
* Respond to machine alarms, stoppages, and simple errors
* Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe
* Track completed parts and move them to the proper storage or the next operation
* Communicate issues, tooling problems, quality concerns, or process improvements to the team
* Support general shop and production needs as required
* Perform basic maintenance and upkeep on CNC machines, automation equipment, air compressors, and other supporting tools

Qualifications
* Experience with CNC machines, manufacturing, mechanical assembly, or production work
* Ability to stay organized while managing multiple machines or tasks
* Comfortable working around machinery and following safety procedures
* Good attention to detail
* Willingness to learn and take ownership of a production area
* Understanding of hand tools, measuring tools, and shop equipment
* Experience with bar feeders, robotics, automation, or production machining is a plus, but not required

Benefits offered to vary by the contract. Depending on your temporary assignment, benefits may include direct deposit, free career counseling services, 401(k), select paid holidays, short-term disability insurance, skills training, employee referral bonus, affordable medical coverage plan, and DailyPay (in some locations). For a full description of benefits available to you, be sure to talk with your recruiter.
