The Louisville, Kentucky site of BAE Systems, provider of some of the world's most advanced, technology-led defense, aerospace and security solutions, is actively seeking a Laser Tracker Inspector. In this role as a Laser Tracker Inspector, you will be responsible for developing quality plans and quality assurance procedures, performing layout work using Faro, Leica, or similar laser inspection equipment, and utilizing Spatial Analyzer software for offline programming.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
Physical Requirements: This role requires a regular presence in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. The incumbent must be able to access and safely navigate production areas, which may include climbing, kneeling, stooping, and working in confined spaces. You must also be able to comply with all safety requirements, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company policy.
Schedule: This position supports on the First Shift on a 9/80 Schedule with typical hours of 6:30 AM-4:00 PM.
What is a 9/80 Schedule? The 9/80 schedule is a compressed work arrangement where you work 80 hours over nine business days instead of the traditional ten. Typically, this involves working slightly longer hours Monday through Thursday, with one Friday "on" and one Friday "off" each two-week pay period.

Full-Time Salary Range: $88189 - $149922
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

In this role as a Laser Tracker Inspector, you will be responsible for developing quality plans and quality assurance procedures, performing layout work using Faro, Leica, or similar laser inspection equipment, and utilizing Spatial Analyzer software for offline programming.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Reading and interpreting customer drawings and specifications to identify appropriate inspection methods.
- Interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) specifications.
- Performing first-piece, last-piece, and in-process inspection checks.
- Evaluating nonconforming material to determine final disposition.
- Providing support to Manufacturing Engineering and other business units.
- Directing the work of junior personnel.
- Using laser trackers to align components to machine coordinates.
- Determining the "best fit" for weldments to optimize machine stock.
- Supporting off-shifts and overtime as required.
- Maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring compliance with safety objectives and policies.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Typically requires a High School diploma (or GED) and eight years of related experience or the overall equivalent.
- Knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 GD&T.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
- Ability to prepare technical reports and documentation.
- Experience reading and working with blueprints.
- Experience in portable metrology inspection and alignment.
- Strong shop math skills.
- Flexibility to support overtime and off-shift requirements.
- Eligibility to obtain the required security clearance.
- Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Experience performing inspection and alignment with Laser Trackers, especially Leica.
- Portable Metrology experience using Spatial Analyzer or equivalent software.
- 3D metrology inspection of weldments and complex machined parts. Onsite #LI-JR1
