Job Description

Kearney & Company is currently seeking a Training and Development Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team in Dayton, OH and various other locations in the U.S. to serve as a key member of the Defense Enterprise Accounting Management System (DEAMS) Deployment and Training Team in support of Data Visualization. The successful candidate will lead the design, development, delivery, and continuous improvement of training programs for financial data visualization tools (primarily dashboards) at Department of Air Force bases. This role serves as the subject matter expert for both content and instructional methods, ensuring that training materials and sessions empower end users to maximize the value of dashboards and data analytics. The SME collaborates with deployment teams, dashboard developers, and command stakeholders to assess training needs, develop curricula, and deliver both in-person and virtual training. Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Lead the development, publication, and maintenance of training curricula, checklists, SOPs, job aids, and web-based training (WBT) for dashboard and data visualization tools, ensuring alignment with evolving system capabilities and user needs.
  • Conduct formal and ad hoc training sessions for base-level users, including instructor-led classroom, webinar, and self-paced online courses, using platforms such as Microsoft Teams and myLearning.
  • Serve as the primary SME for training content, providing advanced guidance on dashboard functionality, data interpretation, and troubleshooting.
  • Assess training effectiveness through post-training surveys, analyze results, and implement improvements to curricula and delivery methods.
  • Collaborate with deployment teams to provide over-the-shoulder support and site-specific training during dashboard rollouts at Air Force installations.
  • Update and maintain training materials prior to each session to ensure accuracy and relevance to the target audience.
  • Develop and deploy interactive, SCORM-compliant WBT courses using tools such as Adobe Captivate and manage course content on approved platforms.
  • Identify training gaps related to new dashboard features or data sources and develop or update materials to address these gaps.
  • Support organizational change management by educating users and other training organizations (e.g., AF School House, Regional Training Center) on new dashboard capabilities.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and user guides for both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Mentor and support other trainers and junior staff in instructional best practices and content mastery.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Power BI and other data visualization/business intelligence tools
• Familiarity with Air Force Financial Management and financial data elements
• Experience with e-learning development tools (e.g., Adobe Captivate) and SCORM-compliant courseware
• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
• Demonstrated ability to assess training needs, develop curricula, and deliver effective training to diverse audiences
• Experience supporting large-scale IT or financial system deployments and user adoption
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement skills
• Must be willing and able to travel as required, up to 25% of the time
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance (requires US Citizenship)

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree
• Experience in DoD FM processes and procedures for posting accounting entries
• Experience with Microsoft Azure or High bond

The expected salary range for this position is between $80,000 and $140,000. This range is representative of base pay only and does not include straight time pay for hours worked over 40 per week, company contributions towards paid benefits, and/or bonuses. Actual compensation (meeting or exceeding the range) will be determined based on specific experience, education, work location, clearance level, and other factors permitted by law. This position is eligible for bonuses (when applicable).
