Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Flight Test Engineer located at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL .
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited school (aerospace, mechanical, or industrial/systems desired) and 0-3 years of experience performing engineering duties in designing, constructing, and testing aircraft and/or aviation systems; and conducting basic and applied research to evaluate adaptability of materials and equipment to aircraft design and manufacture. Additional experience acceptable for Engineer-II. Advanced degree may be considered to decrease experience requirements.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an FAA Class III medical certificate.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Intermediate knowledge of aircraft/aircraft systems (e.g., flight controls, displays, radar, comm/nav, etc.) and/or test and evaluation experience highly desired.
- Intermediate competency with MS Office, programming, Matlab, Python, and technical writing desired.
- Rotary-wing or fixed-wing flight test experience, or experience in a related discipline is desired.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct developmental flight test for Cargo/Fixed Wing platforms.
- Perform flight test engineer duties as crewmember on flight test aircraft.
- Monitor in-flight test activities, via real-time telemetry systems or as an aircraft crewmember.
- Work as part of a diverse team of contractor, military, and civilian experimental test pilots and engineers.
- Prepare pre-test documentation (test plans, test readiness reviews, safety reviews).
- Provide technical expertise with regard to the method of test that will best achieve the test objectives.
- Perform in-depth engineering data reduction and analysis.
- Write comprehensive test reports to provide usable, accurate, and readily-interpretable results.
- Prepare/deliver presentations to colleagues, subordinates, and government representatives
