Position Overview
AV Technician
Location: Honiara, Solomons Island
Compensation: $37.00/hr - $40.00/hr DOE (Lodging and traveling included)
We are seeking an experienced Audiovisual (AV) Technician to support the installation, assembly, cabling, and operation of audiovisual systems and equipment. The AV Technician will be responsible for installing and connecting AV devices, running cabling, and ensuring installed equipment is functioning properly.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with commercial AV installations, be comfortable working with a variety of audiovisual hardware, and hold the required AVIXA certification and security clearance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and connect audiovisual equipment and devices.
- Run and route cables to AV devices and equipment.
- Transport, assemble, install, and connect AV hardware, including:
- Microphones
- Speakers
- Projectors
- Video displays/screens
- AV cabling and associated hardware
- Install devices according to project plans and specifications.
- Verify installed devices are connected and functioning properly.
- Identify and troubleshoot basic installation or connectivity issues.
- Maintain organized and properly secured cabling.
- Follow project requirements, site procedures, and applicable safety standards.
- Coordinate with AV leads, technicians, and other project personnel during installation.
- Assist with equipment setup, installation, and system readiness.
Required Qualifications:
- AVIXA certification required
- Active Top Secret (TS) security clearance required
- 6 years of relevant audiovisual installation experience
- Hands-on experience running and terminating AV cabling.
- Experience installing AV devices and associated hardware.
- Knowledge of microphones, speakers, projectors, video displays, cabling, and related AV equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic AV installation and connectivity issues.
- OSHA 10 certification or ability to meet project requirements, if applicable.
- Ability to safely transport, lift, assemble, and install AV equipment.
- Technician vs. Lead Responsibilities
Preferred Skills:
- Commercial or government AV installation experience.
- Experience working on secure or cleared job sites.
- Ability to read AV drawings, cable schedules, and installation documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively as part of an installation team.
