Job Description
Systems Administrator (VDI) — TS/SCI
Location: Dayton, OH
Work Model: Fully onsite
Clearance: Active TS/SCI
Build, Secure, and Improve Mission-Critical VDI
Rackner is hiring Systems Administrators to help operate and improve a secure Virtual Desktop Infrastructure and endpoint environment supporting a national-security mission in Dayton, Ohio.
You’ll work hands-on with production virtual desktops, cloud infrastructure, thin-client endpoints, automation, security hardening, and complex troubleshooting in a classified environment.
This is not a traditional desktop-support position. You’ll work across the infrastructure behind secure virtual desktop delivery—including cloud-hosted desktops, identity, endpoint management, automation, security controls, and platform reliability.
For someone who already has VDI depth, this role offers the opportunity to broaden your technical range across:
Multi-cloud VDI
Secure enterprise infrastructure
Endpoint management
Automation and scripting
Cybersecurity compliance
Classified systems operations
Rackner also supports professional certifications aligned with current and future technical work across cloud, cybersecurity, DevSecOps, infrastructure, and related engineering disciplines.
You do not need every technology listed below. We’re looking for strong hands-on depth in the platforms you have actually operated.
Your Impact
Administer and troubleshoot enterprise VDI environments using AWS WorkSpaces, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), and/or Omnissa Horizon
Build and optimize desktop images, applications, user profiles, host pools, and scaling configurations
Configure and operate 10ZiG or comparable thin-client and endpoint-management environments
Diagnose and resolve performance, authentication, profile, connectivity, compatibility, and user-access issues
Automate recurring administration using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar scripting tools
Harden and secure virtual desktops, Active Directory, endpoints, and cloud resources using DISA STIGs and applicable security controls
Deploy and maintain endpoint configurations, firmware, certificates, security patches, and device settings
Partner with security and infrastructure teams on continuous monitoring, authorization activities, configuration validation, and technical evidence collection
Test and improve VDI performance, reliability, compatibility, and usability
Document system configurations, operating procedures, troubleshooting guidance, technical decisions, and architecture
Where You May Fit
We’re building complementary technical coverage across the team.
Strong alignment may include:
10ZiG + AWS WorkSpaces
10ZiG + Azure Virtual Desktop
AWS WorkSpaces + Horizon
Azure Virtual Desktop + Horizon
Depth in one of these areas matters more than checking every box.
Candidates without direct 10ZiG knowledge may still be relevant if they bring strong thin-client, endpoint-management, or enterprise VDI administration depth.
What You Bring
Required
Active TS/SCI clearance
Ability to work fully onsite in Dayton, Ohio
Hands-on production administration of at least one primary VDI platform:
AWS WorkSpaces
Azure Virtual Desktop
Omnissa / VMware Horizon
Demonstrated ability to configure, troubleshoot, maintain, or improve enterprise virtual desktop infrastructure
Working knowledge of Windows infrastructure, identity and access, endpoint management, or related enterprise systems
Ability to use scripting or automation to improve administration and reduce repetitive work
Familiarity with security hardening and compliance requirements in regulated, government, or classified environments
Ability to produce clear technical documentation, operating procedures, and configuration guidance
CompTIA Security+ or another certification accepted for the program’s required DoD 8140 baseline
Strong Additional Alignment
You may stand out if you have worked with:
10ZiG Manager or comparable thin-client management platforms
Active Directory and Group Policy
Virtual desktop image management
User profile management
Cloud-based desktop provisioning
Host pools and scaling
Certificate management
Endpoint enrollment and lifecycle management
DISA STIG implementation
Continuous monitoring
ATO or related authorization documentation
Secure or classified infrastructure
Large-scale enterprise desktop environments
These are valuable signals, but not every item is required for every position.
Preferred Certifications
Relevant credentials may include:
Microsoft certifications aligned with Azure Virtual Desktop
AWS Certified Solutions Architect
AWS Certified SysOps Administrator
VMware / Omnissa Horizon or desktop virtualization certifications
Certifications can strengthen your background, but they are not a substitute for hands-on production administration.
