Our client seeks a Software Engineer to support a project at a Navy base in San Diego. The role includes analysis, design, development, and testing of applications. The engineer will develop across Linux and Android using Qt and Android platforms, program in C++, C, and Python, and work with SQLite. The work will occur within an Agile Scrum environment applying sound software engineering, object-oriented, and functional programming principles to produce maintainable, efficient, reliable, understandable, secure, and fault-tolerant code. The engineer will implement secure development practices, leverage continuous integration and test automation, support reuse and refactoring, and participate in configuration management while understanding interfaces across APIs and host systems including virtualized, containerized, and hardware environments. This position is 100% on site.
Due to federal security clearance requirements, applicant must be a United States Citizen with an active Secret clearance. Due to client requirements, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. - Analyze, design, develop, and test software for Linux and Android platforms.
- Implement secure software development principles with CI, automated testing, and code quality tools.
- Integrate modules and libraries across C++, C, Python, Qt, Android, and SQLite.
- Apply object-oriented and functional programming practices to ensure code quality and maintainability.
- Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies and iterative delivery.
- Support software configuration management and version control workflows.
- Develop and optimize mobile and embedded user interfaces using modern UI and graphics frameworks.
- Design software with clear separation of concerns for presentation, business logic, and persistence.
- Collaborate on interface requirements with APIs and host systems including virtualized, containerized, or hardware targets.
Experience Requirements:
- Active Secret DoD security clearance.
- Experience developing for Linux/Unix and Android.
- Proficiency with C++, C, and Python.
- Experience with Qt and Android application platforms.
- Agile Scrum methodology experience.
- Mobile application development experience.
- Software CM tools experience (e.g., Subversion, Git, GitLab, GitHub).
- UI/UX frameworks experience (e.g., Qt/QML, JavaScript).
- Build tools: cmake, ninja, make, gcc.
- Unit testing frameworks: Catch2, GoogleTest, VectorCAST.
- Agile management tools experience (e.g., VersionOne, JIRA, Rally).
- Automated testing tools and concepts (e.g., Squish for Qt, TDD, Selenium, Cucumber, Gherkin, BDD).
- CI/CO tools and practices: Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, clang-tidy, valgrind, Coverity.
- Formal API development methodologies (e.g., OpenAPI 3.0).
- Design and implementation of user interfaces for embedded or mobile applications with modern graphics frameworks.
- Experience optimizing for resource-constrained environments and separating concerns across layers.
- Current Security+ certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
Education Requirements:
- BS in Computer Science or related field with applicable experience.
