Full-Time with an Employee Owned and Best Places to Work Contractor

Onsite in Huntsville, AL | Schedule: 9x80

We are hiring a Software Developer to support the GMD Weapon System (GWS) Fire Control (GFC) Engagement Planner team, developing and modernizing complex mathematics- and physics-based defense software for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). This role focuses on C++ and Ada software development, Ada-to-C++ modernization, optimization algorithms, MATLAB and Python, modeling and simulation, containerization with Kubernetes and Docker, and DevSecOps CI/CD tools including Jenkins, Ansible, Git/GitLab, Jira, and Confluence.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and test existing and new capabilities and algorithms for the GMD Weapon System (GWS) Fire Control (GFC) Engagement Planner.
  • Modernize and translate legacy Ada software code to C++.
  • Develop and implement complex mathematics- and physics-based algorithms and capabilities supporting fire control and missile defense applications.
  • Analyze and implement optimization algorithms for complex software solutions.
  • Review software requirements and test cases developed in support of the Engagement Planner team.
  • Use MATLAB and Python to support software development, analysis, modeling, simulation, and algorithm implementation.
  • Support software containerization and orchestration using Kubernetes, Helm Charts, and Docker.
  • Apply Agile and DevSecOps practices using Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Ansible, Git/GitLab, and continuous integration/continuous delivery and deployment (CI/CD) automation.
  • Develop and support software within Unix/Linux operating environments.
  • Read and interpret modeling and simulation results in support of software development and analysis.


Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
  • Must possess an active Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field, ideally Mathematics or Physics, or a Master's degree in a STEM-related field.
  • Bachelor's degree with 2 years of related experience or a Master's degree with 0 years of related experience; experience must not exceed 10 years.
  • Experience solving highly mathematical and physics-based complex problems.
  • Experience analyzing and implementing optimization algorithms.
  • Recent software development experience with Ada or C++.
  • Recent MATLAB and Python experience.
  • Experience with software containerization and orchestration using Kubernetes, Helm Charts, and Docker.
  • Experience with Agile project management tools, including Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience with DevSecOps tools and methodologies, including Jenkins, Ansible, Git/GitLab, and CI/CD automation.
  • Unix/Linux operating system experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret modeling and simulation.
  • Must be able to work in-person within a closed-area environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience solving complex mathematics- and physics-based problems involving the development of fire control solutions.
  • Advanced experience with Linux, scripting, and operations.
  • Prior experience supporting Missile Defense Agency (MDA) programs and/or systems.
  • Experience with automated software requirements, testing, and analysis.
