M.C. Dean is seeking an experienced Pipe Fitter/Mechanic to install, assemble, maintain, and repair piping systems and associated components for commercial and industrial mechanical projects. This position requires strong knowledge of hydronic, chilled-water, heating-water, steam, condensate, gas, fuel oil and process piping systems. The successful candidate must be able to work safely, interpret construction documents, and complete high-quality installations and service in accordance with project specifications and applicable codes.

- Completion of a HVAC technical training program in a vocational or technical school or a recognized apprenticeship program is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
M.C. Dean is seeking an experienced Pipe Fitter/Mechanic to install, assemble, maintain, and repair piping systems and associated components for commercial and industrial mechanical projects. This position requires strong knowledge of hydronic, chilled-water, heating-water, steam, condensate, gas, fuel oil and process piping systems. The successful candidate must be able to work safely, interpret construction documents, and complete high-quality installations and service in accordance with project specifications and applicable codes.
- Install, assemble and maintain piping systems for commercial HVAC, mechanical equipment and other ancillary systems.
- Measure, cut, thread, groove, bevel, solder, braze, weld and connect pipe using approved methods.
- Install and service valves, fittings, supports, hangers, pumps, coils, heat exchangers, and other mechanical equipment.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, piping diagrams, and equipment submittals.
- Lay out piping routes and determine required materials, fittings, and installation methods.
- Verify proper pipe elevations, slopes, alignment, spacing, and equipment connections.
- Perform verification testing of piping systems to include, ultrasonic testing, flow testing, hydro static testing, leak down testing and other tests as applicable.
- Identify and correct installation issues, leaks, obstructions, and system deficiencies.
- Coordinate work with project managers, foremen, other trades, subcontractors, and customers.
- Maintain accurate material usage and communicate material or equipment needs to the supervisor
- Protect installed equipment and completed work from damage.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow company safety policies, site requirements, and all applicable OSHA regulations.
- Complete assigned work efficiently while meeting project quality, schedule, and productivity expectations.
Qualifications
- Applicant must have a high school diploma or GED with a minimum of 6+ years of experience working on commercial or industrial pipe-fitting experience preferred.
- Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; Ability to obtain & maintain a TS/SCI Clearance required.
- Working knowledge of HVAC and mechanical piping systems.
- Ability to read blueprints, piping diagrams, specifications, and construction documents.
- Experience with carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, PVC, CPVC, and other piping materials.
- Knowledge of threaded, grooved, welded, soldered, brazed, and flanged piping connections.
- Ability to use pipe-fitting tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and testing instruments safely.
- Working knowledge of hydronic and mechanical systems operation and how they interact on the component level
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
- Dependable attendance, effective communication, and consistent follow-through.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is preferred.
- Welding or brazing certifications are a plus.

Abilities:
- The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to [50 pounds] on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety.
- Relocates a 12 foot stepladder without assistance.
- Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
- Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
- Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
- May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
