Job Description
Everfox is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with hands-on experience developing and supporting secure software solutions within U.S. Government and military environments. The ideal candidate will have direct experience with military messaging and tactical data-link standards such as Link 16, JREAP-C, TADIL-J, USMTF and VMF, combined with strong Linux software development and networking expertise. The position will be responsible for mentoring Junior engineers, developing & testing new product capabilities, software development/build tools, software test infrastructure & operational support for cross-domain products. You will work in a cohesive team environment, willing to grow & learn using many software development & operational tools to test, debug & support software for secure Linux desktop environments, IT operations/enterprise management, IP networking/routing and remote/virtual desktop deployments. Utilize your expertise in legacy U.S. Government messaging systems to guide the requirement definition, design and implementation of secure message gateways.
Location: Richardson, TX On Site
Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday – Friday (standard work schedule with flexibility for mission critical requirements). This position may require some minimum travel as needed to meet customer and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Demonstrate competency working hands-on in Linux based environments.
Develop new features and extensions to existing products using a variety of languages including Rust, C, C++, Java, and proprietary languages.
Self-starter utilizing your Linux and scripting expertise to integrate new features and extensions into complex products.
Leverage standard networking concepts to support the design and implementation of Cross Domain capabilities.
Develop data inspection policies using proprietary and open-source programming languages.
Provide technical briefings to customers and Everfox leadership as required.
Key Experience and Education Requirements:
Direct experience with Link16, JREAP-C, TADIL-J, USMTF, VMF and related standards and protocols.
BS Computer Science, Computer Engineer, Information Security or equivalent
12+ years experience in software engineering, system engineering or related disciplines
Experience with software development in Linux environments using a variety of programming and scripting languages including Java, Python, Go, C/C++, and/or bash
Hands-on experience implementing TCP/IP networking & related protocols (such as HTTP, SSH, IPSEC, TLS/SSL, etc)
Robust understanding of private and public keys and or certificates
Experience with version control technologies such as Git
Red Hat Enterprise, Fedora or Ubuntu Linux operating systems
Ability to obtain US Government Security Clearance if needed
Nice to Have:
Experience with security design and architecture of Cross Domain solutions (CDS)
Experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Gemini or OpenCode
Agile or Scrum development experience
Experience with deploying cloud technologies such as MS Azure or AWS
Development experience in a distributed, parallel or clustered processing environment
Experience with virtual desktop redisplay technologies such as RDP, Citrix Receiver or VMware Horizon View
