This role blends software engineering, technical consulting, and hands‑on problem solving. FDEs work closely with customers to understand their challenges, rapidly build and deploy tailored solutions, and ensure successful adoption of platform capabilities. They act as the technical bridge between product engineering and customer operations.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customer deployments, integrations, and solution delivery.
Work embedded with customer teams to understand workflows, constraints, and operational mission needs.
Develop, customize, and deploy software solutions using the organization’s platforms, tools, and cloud technologies.
Collaborate with internal product engineering teams to provide customer feedback, feature requests, and improvements.
Troubleshoot complex technical issues in real time and implement durable solutions that align with customer mission outcomes.
Build automation, integrations, data pipelines, dashboards, and custom features tailored to customer operational needs.
Create technical documentation, runbooks, and deployment guides to support customer teams.
Train and mentor customer technical users and administrators to ensure proper usage and long-term sustainability.
Ensure solutions comply with security, governance, and regulatory requirements within customer environments.
Support pre-sales and post-sales engineering activities as needed, including demos, scoping, and proof‑of‑concept work.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
Strong software engineering fundamentals and proficiency with modern programming languages (Python, Java, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, etc.).
Experience working with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and distributed systems.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues under time and operational pressure.
Excellent communication skills and comfort working directly with customer technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to travel or work in customer environments depending on mission requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in customer-facing engineering, professional services, or technical consulting roles.
Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD systems, and infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Bicep, etc.).
Knowledge of data platforms, ETL pipelines, or real-time analytics systems.
Experience working in regulated or secure environments (government, defense, critical infrastructure, healthcare, etc.).
Ability to translate ambiguous customer needs into clear engineering requirements and executable solutions.
