Biomedical Engineering Lead

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Biomedical Engineering Lead to join our team. This role offers remote flexibility, with the potential for either a hybrid or fully remote arrangement depending on final operational needs, alongside periodic travel for key meetings and projects.

The Biomedical Engineering Lead will oversee modality and device inventories, acquisition workflow mapping, Application Entity (AE) title and network readiness, Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) modality worklist integration, and medical device cybersecurity alignment across enterprise healthcare settings.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Lead modality and imaging device inventory audits, site surveys, and acquisition workflow mapping across hospital and enterprise healthcare facilities.
• Direct Application Entity (AE) title configuration, network readiness, DICOM Modality Worklist (MWL) integration, and edge-device connectivity workflows.
• Coordinate modality cutover strategies in close collaboration with deployment leads, local Biomedical Engineering, and Clinical Engineering teams.
• Manage medical device cybersecurity inputs, risk documentation, and hardening standards in alignment with federal platform security requirements.
• Support radiology and cardiology acquisition workflows to ensure seamless clinical data flow between imaging modalities and enterprise systems.
• Serve as the primary liaison between modality equipment vendors, service engineers, and technical infrastructure teams during system rollouts.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in technical discipline with 10+ years of healthcare IT experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
• Hands-on experience with imaging modality integration, DICOM Modality Worklists (MWL), and AE title/network configuration.
• Experience conducting imaging device inventory assessments, site surveys, and modality cutover support across enterprise healthcare networks or regional Veterans Integrated Service Networks (VISN).
• Technical experience developing medical device cybersecurity documentation and supporting risk mitigation protocols.
• Operational awareness of radiology and cardiology acquisition workflows and modality vendor service frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Active Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE) certification or equivalent professional credentials.
• Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET), Certified Radiology Equipment Specialist (CRES), or related specialized certifications.
• Knowledge of health informatics, medical imaging architecture, or enterprise healthcare IT systems.
• Experience supporting federal healthcare systems (e.g., Department of Veterans Affairs, Defense Health Agency), enterprise Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA) Imaging, or regional network deployments.
• Familiarity with cloud environments (such as VA Enterprise Cloud [VAEC], AWS, or Azure) and federal healthcare cybersecurity frameworks.

Clearance Requirements:

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Veterans Affairs Moderate Risk Background Investigation (BI) or Public Trust clearance.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
• Needs to occasionally move about inside the office and clinical spaces to access equipment and engage with site teams.
• Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and government stakeholders, which may involve delivering technical briefings; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
