Job Description
MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Enterprise Architect to join our team. This role offers remote flexibility , with the potential for either a hybrid or fully remote arrangement depending on final operational needs, alongside periodic travel for key meetings and projects.
The Enterprise Architect in Healthcare IT will own the end-to-end technical architecture across PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems), VNA (Vendor Neutral Archives), viewer, MPI (Master Patient Index), EHR (Electronic Health Record) integration, exchange, AI, hosting, informatics, and operations to support national healthcare systems.

The Enterprise Architect in Healthcare IT will own the end-to-end technical architecture across PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems), VNA (Vendor Neutral Archives), viewer, MPI (Master Patient Index), EHR (Electronic Health Record) integration, exchange, AI, hosting, informatics, and operations to support national healthcare systems.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Direct the end-to-end architecture across PACS, VNA, diagnostic viewers, MPI, EHR integration, data exchange, AI, hosting, informatics, and operations.
- Architect technical solutions that support VistA (Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture) and Oracle Health EHR coexistence across clinical systems and enterprise environments.
- Translate clinical imaging workflows into scalable technical architecture and cloud deployment patterns within the VAEC (Department of Veterans Affairs Enterprise Cloud).
- Provide direct technical escalation and architecture governance to leadership while ensuring vendor-neutral integration across all functional platforms.
- Lead the architectural design for enterprise imaging deployments spanning multi-facility environments, ensuring operational stability and technical alignment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, platform developers, and vendor partners to drive seamless health data exchange and system interoperability.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in technical discipline with 10+ years of healthcare IT experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Experience architecting or supporting enterprise imaging platforms (PACS, VNA, viewers) in multi-facility or complex healthcare environments, with exposure to large-scale deployments ideally spanning 10 or more facilities.
- Familiarity with DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine), HL7 (Health Level Seven), or IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise) integration profiles and standards.
- Practical experience with Oracle Health EHR integration frameworks, including strategies to support coexistence or migration with legacy VistA systems.
- Experience implementing cloud architecture patterns within the VAEC or equivalent enterprise cloud environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CIIP (Certified Imaging Informatics Professional) certification.
- Master's degree in health informatics, systems engineering, computer science, or related technical discipline.
- Experience implementing vendor-neutral integration patterns and enterprise AI tools within clinical workflows.
- Strong communication skills with a demonstrated ability to present technical architectures to executive and clinical leadership.
Clearance Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Veterans Affairs Moderate Risk BI (Background Investigation) or Public Trust clearance.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, and engage with team members.
- Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and government stakeholders, which may involve delivering technical presentations; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
