About the Role:
Mount Indie is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer II to support U.S. Navy Command, Control, Communications,
Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) modernization efforts. This position provides engineering expertise supporting system
integration, technical analysis, architecture development, installation planning, testing, and lifecycle sustainment for
complex Navy combat systems and tactical communication networks.
The Systems Engineer II will work closely with Government Program Offices (PMWs), Systems Support Activities (SSA), In-
Service Engineering Agents (ISEA), Fleet stakeholders, and contractor teams to engineer, integrate, test, and field
advanced C4I capabilities across afloat and shore-based platforms.
The ideal candidate possesses strong technical knowledge of Navy C4I systems, understands how multiple tactical
systems communicate across the battlespace, and is experienced developing engineering products, interface
documentation, and systems architecture supporting Navy modernization initiatives.
What You'll Do:
Systems Engineering & Integration
• Provide systems engineering support for Navy C4I modernization and acquisition programs.
• Analyze operational requirements and develop engineering solutions supporting installation, integration,
modernization, and sustainment efforts.
• Support systems engineering throughout the lifecycle including requirements analysis, design, implementation,
verification, validation, and transition to operations.
• Evaluate engineering impacts associated with hardware and software upgrades.
• Develop technical recommendations supporting Government decision-making.
• Coordinate engineering activities among PMWs, SSAs, ISEAs, Fleet Stakeholders, and industry partners.
• Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), engineering working groups, technical interchange meetings, and
design reviews.
• Support engineering assessments during installation planning and execution.
Systems Architecture & Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
• Develop and maintain high-level and detailed system architectures for Navy C4I systems using Model-Based
Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies.
• Utilize CAMEO Systems Modeler (Cameo) and MagicDraw to develop, maintain, and update digital engineering
models supporting system analysis and architecture development.
• Create, update, and maintain engineering products including:
o Operational Views (OV-1)
o System Views (SV-1)
o Technical Views (TV-1)
o Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
o Context Diagrams
o Functional Flow Block Diagrams (FFBDs)
o Internal Block Diagrams (IBDs)o Block Definition Diagrams (BDDs)
o System Interface Diagrams
• Map high-level system-of-systems architectures illustrating interoperability between ships, aircraft, shore
facilities, tactical data links, SATCOM systems, afloat networks, and tactical communications.
• Analyze system interfaces, communications paths, data flows, and interoperability requirements to ensure end-
to-end operational capability.
• Maintain requirements traceability between customer requirements, architecture products, engineering
artifacts, and verification activities.
• Support Digital Engineering initiatives by developing MBSE models that improve collaboration, visualization, and
engineering decision-making.
• Collaborate with Government stakeholders to develop current-state and future-state architectures supporting
modernization and capability upgrades.
Systems Integration, Installation & Testing
• Support installation planning and execution for afloat and shore-based C4I systems.
• Perform engineering analysis supporting system integration activities.
• Participate in site surveys, installation planning conferences, and technical reviews.
• Support Government Acceptance Testing (GAT), System Operational Verification Testing (SOVT), Factory
Acceptance Testing (FAT), and operational test events.
• Analyze installation discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
• Validate system functionality following installation and modernization efforts.
• Coordinate engineering support during ship availabilities and system fielding events.
Technical Analysis & Requirements Management
• Analyze customer requirements and translate operational needs into engineering solutions.
• Perform engineering trade studies supporting system upgrades and modernization.
• Support interface analysis between communications, networking, tactical data links, and combat systems.
• Evaluate system performance and recommend improvements.
• Identify engineering risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Support configuration management and engineering change documentation.
Collaboration & Technical Support
• Serve as a technical liaison between Government customers, engineering organizations, and installation teams.
• Provide technical guidance to installation personnel and program leadership.
• Develop engineering briefings, technical reports, white papers, and status updates.
• Support engineering planning for future capability enhancements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of engineering objectives.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum 7 years of engineering experience supporting two or more Navy C4I systems such as:
o GCCS
o DCGS-N
o USW-DSS
o Tactical Data Links (Link 11, Link 16, Link 22)
o ADSI/LMMT
o CENTRIXS
o MDA
o HF/VHF/UHF Radios and Antennaso SATCOM Systems
o Afloat Networks
