Job Description

Federal Customer Success Manager (Cleared)
Location: Washington DC / Maryland / Northern Virginia — remote with regular on-site customer visits

About the Role:
A fast-growing cybersecurity company is hiring a Federal Customer Success Manager to support a portfolio of federal and defense customers in the DC metro area. This is a post-sales role: you are the strategic and technical advisor to accounts that have already bought, responsible for making sure they get real security value out of the platform and stay long term.
You will work directly with security operators and agency leadership, walk customers through attack paths and findings, help them prioritize what to fix, and translate technical outcomes into business impact for executive stakeholders. You will not be selling new logos and you will not be implementing the product. You will be the trusted technical resource the customer calls.

This Role Is Open to Transitioning Military and Cyber Operators:
You do not need prior customer success experience. If you have a strong offensive or defensive security background and you genuinely want to be customer facing, this team will teach you the rest. Red team, blue team, systems engineering, cyber intelligence, and penetration testing backgrounds all translate well here.

What You'll Do:
Own a portfolio of federal and defense customer accounts as their primary post-sales advisor
Walk customers through attack paths, lateral movement, and pentest findings, and help them prioritize remediation
Hold your own in technical conversations without needing to pull in an engineer for every question
Run regular check-ins and business reviews focused on security posture, compliance alignment, and measurable outcomes
Identify when something is broken and escalate it cleanly to support, product, or engineering
Partner with the federal sales and renewals teams on account strategy, retention, and expansion
Bring customer feedback back to product and engineering to shape the roadmap
Contribute to playbooks, SOPs, and training materials as the team scales
Maintain account health records and touchpoints in internal CS systems

What You'll Bring:
U.S. citizenship (required)
Active or recent Secret or Top Secret clearance (required)
A technical security background: red team, blue team, penetration testing, cyber operations, cyber intelligence, security engineering, or a customer-facing technical role such as CSM or Technical Account Manager supporting security products
Working knowledge of enterprise security, networking, cloud, and offensive security concepts
Strong communication skills and real enthusiasm for being in front of customers
Familiarity with federal customer environments and how agencies actually operate
Certifications such as OSCP, GPEN, CEH, CISSP, or SANS are a plus, not a requirement
Comfort in a scaling startup environment: bias toward action, figures things out, gets it done

Location & Travel:
Candidates must be based in the DC, Maryland, or Northern Virginia area and able to get to customer sites in the DC metro several times per week. This is otherwise a remote role.
