Position Summary
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk provides comprehensive transportation and material movement support to the Mississippi Air National Guard, Gulfport, MS. The incumbent provides logistics skills to properly prepare military cargo, including hazardous materials, for worldwide
redistribution and mobility. The clerk ensures compliance with installation access and security policies, safeguards government property, maintains accurate shipping/receiving records, and supports timely movement and reporting of assets within ILSS and other automated logistics systems. This position plays a critical role in the execution of the overall MS ANG Combat Readiness Training Center mission.

This position plays a critical role in the execution of the overall MS ANG Combat Readiness Training Center mission.
Key Responsibilities
Traffic Management Office Activities
Packing and Crating:
- Perform a wide variety of standard and specialized preservations and/or packing and repacking work utilizing various protective cushioning techniques for custom packing of a variety of items including hazardous materials to ensure safe and damage-free movement.
- Operate manual and automated packaging equipment as required.
- Compute size, weight, and determine types of containers, packing methods, and materials to be used in packing according to destination, shape, mounting provisions, mode of transportation and resistance to shock.
- Properly inbound and receive military cargo into tracking systems, including ILS-S, CMOS, and IGC for transit accountability and visibility, and documentation production.
- Pack and certify all types of hazardous cargo in accordance with federal regulations.
- Use and maintain various types of equipment, such as packaging and preservations equipment, heat sealers, shrink wrapper and stapling machine.
Shipping:
- Provide cargo movement capabilities for off-base redistribution among CONUS and OCONUS military activities.
- After confirmation with Traffic Management NCOIC, select and notify carrier to procure transportation services needed and arranges for pickup and delivery, ensuring the lowest cost approved carriers are used, and selects from competing carriers within various modes of transportation based on service, cost and equitable distribution.
- Operate forklifts, powered and manually operated pallet jacks and other hand operated material handling equipment.
- Validate, inspect, and ensure TMO NCOIC has certified the shipment of arms, ammunition, explosives (AA&E) and Electrostatic Sensitive Discharge (ESD) items.
Receiving:
- Receive and distribute all supplies and cargo from incoming shipments and in-checks all arriving cargo at the installation into appropriate transportation systems for record.
- Note and research any exceptions such as shortages or overages, damages, and incorrect material received.
- Obtain appropriate receipt signatures and process all support documents of cargo/supplies delivered.
- Maintain documentation for incoming freight that is received, checked, inspected and completed in accordance with governing directives.
- Complete off-load of vehicles in a timely manner and ensure all items on the bill of lading are verified.
Pickup and Delivery:
- Deliver DOD assets including GPC purchases to locations outside of Logistics in support of mission performance.
- Ensure delivery of inbound cargo/property to on-base customers daily.
- Support on-base customers with the pickup of assets being shipped out daily.
- Obtain appropriate receipt signatures and process all support documents of cargo/supplies delivered.
- Apply ISO, AS9100, and other respective quality standards and ensure compliance across all business segments.
- Apply Solution One policies, procedures, and standards relevant to the respective program and functional organizations.
Program and Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Assist in the development and implementation of transportation and supply chain procedures and policies.
- Collaborate with Program Management, Operations Management, and Supply Chain Management to support production flow and program execution in support of client operations.
- Responsible for providing the Government with compliant supplies and services and working with the customer regarding its administration of its Quality Assurance Surveillance Plan.
- Collaborate with quality management system elements, other support functions, and customers to meet quality, cost, and schedule commitments.
Reporting and Performance Measurement
- Monitor and report shipment status weekly to ensure timely movement of assets.
- Generate, run, and maintain required movement reports.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant standards and regulations.
- Provide movement information, guidance, and support to base customers.
- Respond to inquiries regarding traffic management activities.
- Present monthly reports to management on operations status as directed.
- Research discrepancies and ensure corrective actions are documented and completed.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure proper filing of TMO documentation.
- Support audits, reconciliations, and property accountability reviews.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- Minimum of two (2) years of logistics experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Experience managing records, reports, databases, and administrative correspondence.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Must possess a current valid state driver's license.
- Hazardous Material Preparer Course is a requirement for all Traffic Management Personnel.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates will be highly preferred if they possess demonstrated experience with:
- Experience supporting Air Force or Air National Guard, Department of Defense (DoD), or similar logistics activities.
- Familiarity with Air National Guard administrative processes, correspondence procedures, and records management requirements.
- Experience providing administrative support for logistics, supply chain, readiness, or force projection programs.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other contracted services.
- Enterprise Logistics Management System (ELMS).
Physical Requirements
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including on-call assignments, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work at an accelerated pace under emergencies or operational demands.
- Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Requirements include walking, standing, reaching, bending, and moving items.
- Required to lift and carry weight over 40 pounds.
