BAE Systems is seeking a Communications Electronics Technician with experience performing comprehensive maintenance for Navy shipboard external communication systems. In this role, you will perform preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with the Navy 3-M system. You will install, inspect, align, groom, modify, repair, and configure equipment associated with AEGIS and SSDS platforms. Equipment includes but is not limited to WSC-3(V) SATCOM systems, AN/USC-61(C) Digital Modular Radio, AN/URC-131 HFRG, AN/SQR-4 with EC-181 Ku-Band, AN/URT-23 HF SATCOM, HF, UHF, LOS, Ku-Band, AN/USQ-155(V)6, and Red/Black matrix switches. Work is performed at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) in Wallops Island, VA. SCSC is located on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and provides AEGIS and Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) combat systems for engineering, testing, training, and certification.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

This position requires high school or GED diploma and seven (7) years of experience providing organizational-level preventive and corrective maintenance for shipboard communications. Must have training in electronic repair and safety.
Must be willing and able to perform in a variety of 40-hour work-week configurations, including:
1. Monday-Friday (5 x 8): 1st Shift
2. Monday-Friday (5 x 8): 2nd Shift
3. Variable 4 x 10 shifts that may include weekends (4 days on/3 days off) and may be 1st or 2nd shift
4. Sliding (5 x 8) work weeks (Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday) and may be 1st or 2nd shift

**PLEASE NOTE - These work week configurations may rotate to meet mission requirements.

This position requires a Secret clearance. You must be a US citizen to obtain a security clearance.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Prior U.S. Navy experience and training related to electronics or communications systems.
  • U.S. Navy 3-M PQS 301 Maintenance Person qualification or higher and experience with SKED.
  • Experience with lockout/tagout and working aloft.


Pay Information
This position is covered by a wage law called the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range for this position is determined by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor on a contract-by-contract basis.
