Koniag Data Solutions, LLC a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Staff Writer with a Secret security clearance to support KDS and our government customer in Washington, DC. The position is hybrid, requires 3 days onsite.
We are seeking a highly skilled communications professional to support senior leadership (Presidential Appointee and Senior Executive Service-level) through the development of clear, compelling, and strategically aligned written products. This position is responsible for drafting and refining a wide range of executive communications, media responses, congressional materials, and public-facing content in support of Department of War priorities.

Essential functions, responsibilities, and duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Draft professional articles for publication in support of organizational communication objectives.
- Prepare responses to media inquiries with accuracy, clarity, and appropriate coordination.
- Draft congressional testimony, correspondence, and related materials for senior leadership.
- Develop speeches, talking points, and associated briefing materials, including PowerPoint presentations for senior leaders.
- Coordinate with subject-matter experts across the Office of the Secretary of War, military commands, and other stakeholders to obtain background information, supporting details, and imagery.
- Conduct research and gather background information from authoritative sources to support the development of accurate, timely, and well-informed communication products.
- Revise draft materials to incorporate leadership and stakeholder feedback in a timely and accurate manner.
- Prepare communication products for public release and clearance review in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Master's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Political Science, or a related field and at least four years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree and six years of experience.
Skills and Experience:
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, persuasive, and audience-appropriate messaging.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- High attention to detail and the ability to adapt quickly to evolving requirements and feedback.
- Knowledge of defense operational test and evaluation strategic communication objectives.
- Ability to work effectively with senior military leaders and executives in preparing internal and external communications products.
Clearance Requirement:
- Active Secret security clearance required, with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret Department of War security clearance.
Preferred Experience:
- Professionally published articles relevant to Department of War missions or priorities.
- Experience preparing executive-level written and verbal communications for senior military leadership and other high-level officials.
- Experience supporting Department of War test and evaluation, research and engineering, and/or defense acquisition efforts.
