Overview
JUNIOR SYSTEMS ENGINEER (MBSE) (TCE)
Bowhead seeks a Junior Systems Engineer (MBSE) to join our Tactical Communications and Electromagnetic Warfare (TCE) in Stafford, VA. The Junior Systems Engineer (MBSE) will provide Systems Engineering knowledge, technical guidance, and support to the program management office.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.

Bowhead seeks a Junior Systems Engineer (MBSE) to join our Tactical Communications and Electromagnetic Warfare (TCE) in Stafford, VA. The Junior Systems Engineer (MBSE) will provide Systems Engineering knowledge, technical guidance, and support to the program management office.
Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of the engineering or scientific work in a project or perform work that involves conventional engineering or scientific practices.
- Generate specifications or plans to support the development of acquisition documentation.
- Support technical findings, opinions, or recommendations.
- Perform customer liaison, make presentations, and attend customer meetings.
- Consult with stakeholders on technical applications to support program management decisions
- Perform the administrative and technical support required to successfully coordinate and facilitate Systems Engineering Technical Reviews, to include development and update of supporting documentation for each event (i.e., Technical Review Action Plan, Technical Review Data Package); creation of technical review summary reports and additional supporting documentation; development of meeting minutes and action item trackers; and update of event information on calendars and Government-specified websites (i.e., Teams, SharePoint).
- Support Configuration Management activities in accordance with approved program Configuration Management Plans, including development and review of baseline documentation, Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), and Configuration Management Plan annexes; participate in Configuration Review Boards (CRBs), Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), and configuration audits.
- Support configuration and version control of system models and associated architecture artifacts to ensure MBSE products remain synchronized with the approved system technical baseline.
- Leverage knowledge of systems engineering processes to inform the program Integrated Master Schedule on key engineering events and documents and their expected durations and dependencies.
- Analyze user requirements and provide input to system specification documents and Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTM), ensuring the RTM is updated following the completion of each test event.
- Demonstrated experience developing, executing, and analyzing models and simulations in support of systems engineering activities, including requirements analysis, architecture development, system behavior analysis, interface analysis, trade studies, performance assessment, and/or verification and validation.
- Use modeling and simulation results to evaluate system alternatives, identify technical risks, assess system performance, and support engineering decision-making.
- Develop and maintain operational, functional, logical, and physical architectures
- Model system capabilities, behaviors, interfaces, and dependencies
- Analyze system requirements and develop functional and performance allocations
- Establish and maintain traceability across requirements, architecture, design, and verification
- Support system integration and interface definition across hardware, software, and subsystems
- Conduct architecture and design trade studies using model-based analyses
- Coordinate with government and contractor engineering teams to ensure the model accurately reflects the current system baseline
- Support verification and validation planning by linking requirements and architecture to test and verification activities
Qualifications
- BS/ BA degree in an engineering field.
- Minimum two (2+) or more years of systems engineering experience, with demonstrated experience supporting Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Modeling & Simulation, system architecture development, requirements analysis, or related engineering activities.
- Intermediate knowledge and understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite (ie. MS Teams, Word, Excel, SharePoint).
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
- Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
- Experience supporting government or military environments is highly desired.
Targeted salary range is $75,000 to $90,000 annually based on qualifications and experience.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
- Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
