Summary
The Firefighteris responsible for providing fire suppression, rescue, emergency response, and fire prevention support services to protect personnel, visitors, facilities, equipment, and mission-critical assets. As a member of the Fire Department's emergency response team, this position responds to a broad range of incidents, including structural fires, aircraft-related emergencies, vehicle accidents, hazardous conditions, rescue events, and other situations requiring immediate response and intervention.
The Firefighter performs firefighting, rescue, and emergency operations in accordance with established procedures, safety standards, and professional firefighting practices. This position supports operational readiness through continuous training, equipment maintenance, facility inspections, and emergency preparedness activities while contributing to a safe and effective team environment.

Responsibilities
- Respond to fire, rescue, hazardous materials, aircraft-related, and other emergency incidents.
- Perform fire suppression, search and rescue, incident stabilization, and property conservation activities.
- Deploy and operate hose lines, nozzles, ladders, extinguishers, ventilation equipment, and other firefighting tools.
- Participate in vehicle extrication, victim removal, and rescue operations utilizing specialized rescue equipment.
- Assist in hazardous materials response activities and specialty operations in accordance with training and certifications.
- Provide standby support for aircraft operations, hazardous activities, special events, and other assignments requiring emergency response readiness.
- Conduct scene size-up, identify hazards, and assist with incident mitigation activities.
- Maintain assigned equipment, apparatus, tools, facilities, and work areas in a clean, safe, and operational condition.
- Conduct routine inspections, testing, and operational checks of firefighting equipment and personal protective equipment.
- Report equipment deficiencies, safety concerns, and maintenance needs promptly.
- Ensure emergency response equipment is maintained in a state of readiness for immediate deployment.
- Assist with equipment inventories, station duties, and resource accountability.
- Participate in required training programs, drills, exercises, and continuing education activities.
- Maintain required certifications, qualifications, and operational competencies.
- Develop and maintain proficiency in fire suppression, rescue operations, hazardous materials response, emergency procedures, and firefighter safety practices.
- Participate in pre-incident planning, facility familiarization, and operational preparedness activities.
- Remain current on departmental policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Required Certifications:
- DoD (IFSAC), Pro Board Firefighter II, or Florida State Firefighter Minimum Standards.
- NIMS ICS-100.
- NIMS ICS-200.
- NIMS ICS-700.
- NIMS ICS-800.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must possessstrong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be capable of working effectively in a team-oriented environment and under emergency conditions.
- Able to obtain and maintaina Secret clearance.
- Successfully pass background and drug screening
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous firefighting, emergency response, military, industrial, airport, municipal, or related public safety experience preferred.
