Job Description
Leidos is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to support the NMCI Service Management Integration and Transport (SMIT) program. This role focuses on the reliability, performance, and scalability of complex distributed systems supporting the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI). The SMIT team is responsible for cybersecurity services, network operations, network engineering, service desk support, seat services, and data transport infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include:
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure reliable and efficient software deployments.
• Monitor systems and continuously improve platform reliability and performance.
• Coordinate and execute production releases during scheduled maintenance windows, including off-hours activities when required.
• Administer Windows Server environments, including patch distribution, compliance monitoring, and reporting using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM).
• Coordinate firmware updates, disk qualification packages, and system upgrades across NetApp ONTAP storage environments utilizing Active IQ Unified Manager and OnCommand Insight (OCI).
• Plan and execute non-disruptive software maintenance releases, SMUs, and image upgrades across Cisco NX-OS data center switches.
• Support infrastructure and application environments while maintaining compliance with defense and cybersecurity requirements.
Key Metrics of Success
• Maintain adherence to a seven-day vulnerability-to-production patching cadence for assigned enterprise infrastructure assets.
• Ensure comprehensive and regularly updated automated test coverage for critical systems and infrastructure components.
Required Skills
Security & Compliance
• Active DoD Secret clearance.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification.
• Operating System/Application Certification, including one of the following:
◦ Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA)
◦ Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)
◦ Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)
• Experience supporting classified environments and SIPRNet access.
• Working knowledge of:
◦ Risk Management Framework (RMF)
◦ DISA STIGs
◦ ITSM and Change Management processes
Systems Administration
• 4+ years of systems administration and patch management experience.
• Strong Linux/Unix administration experience.
• Experience administering Windows Server environments.
• Active Directory administration experience.
• VMware experience.
Automation & Scripting
• Strong scripting experience using:

◦ Bash
• Experience automating patch deployment, system health checks, and reporting.
Infrastructure Technologies
