You will be the Inspector Spec for the Quality Assurance Team. Our team is responsible for ensuring product integrity and compliance with engineering specifications.

As the Inspector Spec you will be responsible for conducting thorough visual and dimensional inspections of electronic units, electromechanical assemblies, and mechanical components to guarantee they meet exacting standards.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

- Perform visual inspections of electronic units and electromechanical assemblies.

- Utilize measuring devices such as dial indicators, micrometers, and scales to verify dimensions.

- Interpret blueprints, diagrams, and inspection instructions to assess compliance.

- Document findings, accept, reject, or coordinate rework of non-conforming items. - Support statistical process control and quality verification activities.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a Secret clearance. A company-sponsored interim Secret clearance is required to start.

Uses predetermined methods, operations, setups and prescribed specifications to inspect visually in-process and completed products such as electronic units and subsystems, precision electromechanical assemblies or mechanical units, subassemblies, structural flaws, internal defects, and missing welds. Uses various measuring devices. Accepts, rejects, or reworks defective or malfunctioning units or systems. Works from blueprints, diagrams, dial indicators, preset micrometers, scales, fixtures, customer specifications, drawing or inspection instructions and checklists. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

Basic Qualifications

  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM, dial indicators, Go/No-Go gauges).
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and specification sheets.
    • Basic understanding of statistical process control (SPC) and defect tracking.
  • Education: High-school diploma or GED (minimum); associate's degree or technical certification in engineering technology, manufacturing, or a related STEM field is preferred.
  • Software Familiarity: Competence with inspection data-capture tools (Excel, Minitab, or dedicated Q-systems).
  • Documentation: Ability to accurately complete inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and maintain calibration logs.
  • Communication: Clear verbal and written skills to convey inspection results and collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and production staff.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, lift moderate loads (≈25 lb), and possess good visual acuity (or corrective lenses).
  • Personal Attributes: High attention to detail, strong work ethic, reliability, and a commitment to continuous improvement and safety.


Desired Skills

  • Quality System Knowledge:
    • Familiarity with relevant standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, IATF 16949, or industry-specific quality systems.
  • Relevant Experience:

    • 1 + years of progressive inspection experience in a regulated or high-mix manufacturing environment (aerospace, automotive, medical-device, defense, etc.).
    • Direct involvement in product audits, supplier qualification, or first-article inspection programs.
  • Certifications & Training

    • Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) - ASQ, or equivalent industry certification.
    • GD&T certification (e.g., ASME Y14.5) and/or Metrology certification (e.g., NQA-1, ISO 17025).
    • Six Sigma Green Belt or higher, Lean Manufacturing, or Kaizen training.
  • Software & Systems Proficiency

    • Expertise with quality management software (Q-Systems, IQ-MS, MasterControl) and electronic inspection data capture tools.
    • Hands-on experience with ERP/PLM platforms (SAP, Oracle, Siemens Teamcenter) for traceability and non-conformance tracking.
    • Ability to develop and maintain electronic work instructions and digital inspection plans.
  • Regulatory & Standards Knowledge

    • In-depth familiarity with industry-specific standards (J-STD-001, AS9100, IATF 16949, ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR 820, MIL-STD-1913, etc.).
    • Experience supporting internal and external audits, preparing audit evidence, and implementing corrective actions.


Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $45200.00 - $84000.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
