Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Configuration Management Lead to support a mission-critical federal technology program. This role is responsible for leading configuration management activities, overseeing technical documentation and modeling efforts, managing a team of configuration management professionals, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of enterprise configuration data.
The ideal candidate will have experience leading teams, maintaining configuration baselines, supporting enterprise IT environments, and implementing modern Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead configuration management activities across a complex enterprise environment.
- Conduct comprehensive audits of technical artifacts to create and maintain accurate as-built models, diagrams, and documentation.
- Create, maintain, and oversee system configuration drawings and models using Microsoft Visio and MBSE tools.
- Support the development and maturation of an MBSE program, including the transition of legacy documentation into a model-based environment.
- Manage the configuration control of requirements, architecture, and technical baselines.
- Lead a team responsible for reviewing and researching change requests and configuration updates.
- Coordinate configuration management activities through enterprise ticketing and workflow management systems.
- Collaborate with engineers and technical stakeholders to understand system changes and ensure all related documentation, diagrams, and models remain accurate and current.
- Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of enterprise Configuration Management Database (CMDB) records.
- Ensure compliance with established configuration management processes, standards, and governance requirements.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and drive enhancements to configuration management practices.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 years of professional work experience; advanced education may be considered in lieu of a portion of the experience requirement.
- At least 3 years of directly related experience in configuration management, systems engineering, technical documentation, or a similar discipline.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a leadership, supervisory, or team lead role.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Visio.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, coordinate workloads, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools such as Cameo or similar platforms.
- Experience using enterprise ticketing platforms such as BMC Remedy or BMC Helix.
- Experience supporting enterprise Configuration Management programs and CMDB administration.
- Knowledge of requirements management, architecture baselines, and configuration control processes.
- Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+).
- ITIL Foundation or equivalent IT Service Management certification.
- Experience supporting federal government or Department of Defense programs.
