Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Mid-Level Configuration Manager to support a mission-critical federal technology environment. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate configuration documentation, managing technical artifacts, and supporting the evolution of configuration management processes and tools across a complex enterprise infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have experience with configuration management practices, technical documentation, systems modeling, and diagram development. This role requires someone who can effectively balance high-level system understanding with meticulous attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive audits of technical artifacts to create, validate, and maintain accurate as-built system documentation, diagrams, and configuration models.
- Utilize enterprise ticketing systems to manage tasks, track changes, and support configuration management activities.
- Create and maintain technical diagrams and configuration documentation using Microsoft Visio and/or Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools.
- Support the development and maturation of MBSE initiatives, including the transition of legacy diagrams and documentation into a modern modeling environment.
- Ensure configuration management documentation remains current, accurate, and aligned with established baselines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to support configuration control, documentation management, and process improvement efforts.
- Identify opportunities to improve configuration management processes, workflows, and documentation standards.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of professional work experience; advanced education may be considered in lieu of some experience requirements.
- At least 2 years of directly related experience in configuration management, systems documentation, technical diagramming, or a related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Visio.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively manage and maintain technical documentation and configuration records.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with enterprise ticketing systems, such as BMC Helix.
- Experience supporting Configuration Management programs within enterprise IT environments.
- Experience maintaining baseline documentation, architecture diagrams, and configuration management artifacts.
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and tools such as Cameo or similar platforms.
- Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+).
- ITIL Foundation or equivalent IT Service Management certification.
- Experience supporting federal government or Department of Defense programs.
