The Compensation and Operations Analyst supports the Total Rewards and Compensation team by performing job-to-survey mapping, monitoring pay compliance for Service Contract Act (SCA)-covered employees, reviewing compensation change requests, and maintaining accurate job structure data. This role also provides cross-functional support to the Performance Management, Pricing/Proposal/Capture, and HR Operations teams, including new hire orientation. This is an entry-level position well-suited to a candidate early in their compensation or HR career who wants broad exposure to government contracting compensation practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Compensation Support
  • Map internal jobs to appropriate market survey job matches to support the recruitment team in creating job assignments and posting requisitions.
  • Assist the Compensation Manager in monitoring pay compliance for SCA-covered positions, including verifying wage determinations that are correctly applied and flagging discrepancies for review.
  • Review compensation change forms (promotions, transfers, adjustments) in Dayforce for internal and external equity alignment; confirm that each request results in an appropriate job/grade assignment.
  • Run and maintain routine compensation reports; audit job structure data to ensure all required fields are complete and accurate (Workers' Compensation codes, job descriptions, pay grades, FLSA status, etc.).
  • Support the annual and special compensation cycles by responding to manager and employee inquiries under the direction of the Compensation Manager.
  • Serve as backup support in providing salary survey data to the Pricing, Proposal, and Capture teams, as needed.

Performance Management Support
  • Assist the Performance Management team with assigning competencies to job profiles.
  • Support managers with system navigation and process questions during the performance review cycle.

HR Operations Support
  • Serve as backup to the HR Operations team for day-to-day support needs.
  • Lead new hire orientation sessions and assist with onboarding tasks as needed.

Qualifications

Required
  • 0-2 years of experience in compensation, HR, or a related analytical role (internships count).
  • Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, basic formulas).
  • High attention to detail and comfort working with structured data and audits.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to explain compensation concepts to non-specialists.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Preferred
  • Exposure to government contracting compensation concepts (SCA, wage determinations, FAR 31.205-6).
  • Familiarity with an HRIS platform (e.g., Dayforce, Workday, UKG).
  • Prior experience with salary survey data or job-matching processes.

Work Environment
  • This role may require increased availability during annual compensation cycle windows (e.g., merit/bonus planning periods) and during proposal/capture support windows.
