Leidos is seeking an experienced Facility Security Officer (FSO) to join our team in Huntsville, Alabama, and lead and administer the industrial security program for a cleared facility supporting Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community (IC), Department of Energy (DOE), and other U.S. Government customers.

The FSO is responsible for ensuring the facility and supported programs operate in compliance with 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM Rule), contract security requirements (including DD Form 254 and Security Classification Guides), customer directives, and Leidos policies and procedures. This position serves as a trusted security advisor to facility leadership, program management, employees, and government security representatives while enabling successful program execution and protecting classified information, personnel, and facilities.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience managing industrial security operations within a cleared contractor environment and the confidence to assess risk, make sound security decisions, and communicate requirements effectively across all levels of the organization — from program staff to executive leadership and government customers. This is a highly visible position in a fast-paced environment that demands professionalism, a sense of urgency, a pro-active mindset, and flexibility.

Primary Responsibilities

• Serve as the Facility Security Officer and provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of the facility's industrial security program.
• Ensure compliance with 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM Rule), DD Form 254 requirements, Program Classification Guides, applicable DoD, SCI, and DOE security requirements, and Leidos security policies and procedures.
• Serve as the primary security interface with DCSA, government security representatives, program leadership, facility leadership, and other internal and external stakeholders.
• Advise leadership and program management on security requirements, risks, vulnerabilities, and appropriate mitigation strategies while balancing compliance requirements with operational and mission needs.
• Administer personnel security activities, including clearance processing, eligibility and access verification, classified access briefings and debriefings, indoctrinations, foreign travel reporting, visit certifications, and other personnel security requirements.
• Manage facility clearance and safeguarding requirements through applicable government systems, including DISS, NISS, and SIMS, and maintain required security records and documentation.
• Maintain oversight of classified information management, including receipt, accountability, storage, transmission, reproduction, destruction, and disposition of classified material.
• Provide oversight of physical security requirements for approved classified areas, including access control, intrusion detection systems, alarm response procedures, security containers, and required security documentation.
• Perform compliance assessment reviews, required self-inspections, security reviews, risk assessments, and corrective-action activities; support government security assessments and inspections.
• Identify security program deficiencies and develop, implement, and track corrective action plans.
• Investigate security incidents, violations, and potential compromises; determine appropriate corrective actions; and prepare required reports and notifications to Leidos leadership and applicable government customers, including administrative inquiries.
• Execute an effective security education, training, and awareness program, including indoctrinations, insider risk awareness, pre/post foreign travel briefings, OPSEC, and other required security education.
• Support implementation of the facility's Insider Threat Program and coordinate with appropriate corporate and government stakeholders when security concerns are identified.
• Interpret DD Form 254 requirements, classification guides, contract security requirements, and other security direction, and translate those requirements into executable security procedures for programs and employees.
• Support proposal activities, new program starts, classified facility requirements, contract transitions, and contract closeouts as required.
• Support foreign visitor and international security requirements, including implementation of applicable Technology Control Plans (TCPs).
• Provide clear guidance to company employees and recommend modifications to operations policies or procedures as appropriate.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with program management, contracts, facilities, information technology, cybersecurity, human resources, legal, and other functional organizations.
• Escalate significant security risks and compliance concerns to appropriate program and senior leadership and drive issues through resolution.
• Directly supervise and manage a team of security professionals and support staff, including hiring, performance management, workload allocation, and professional development, with budget and resource planning authority for the facility security function.
• Serve as the senior-most security decision-maker for the facility, exercising independent authority to approve, restrict, or halt program activities when security requirements or risk tolerance are not met, subject only to escalation to executive leadership.
• Represent Leidos as the senior security point of contact in direct engagements with senior DCSA officials, government program security officers, and customer executive leadership, negotiating resolution of complex or high-visibility security matters.
• Set facility-level security policy, standard operating procedures, and risk-acceptance criteria, ensuring alignment with corporate security strategy while tailoring implementation to the facility's unique multi-program, multi-customer risk environment.
• Own the facility security budget, including forecasting and justifying resource requirements for personnel, physical security infrastructure, and compliance systems to program and corporate leadership.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant industrial security experience; additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree consistent with Leidos requirements.
• Demonstrated experience serving as an FSO, Assistant FSO, or in a comparable industrial security leadership role within a cleared contractor environment.
• Thorough working knowledge of 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM Rule) and applicable DoD and DOE industrial security requirements.
• Experience interpreting and implementing DD Form 254s, classification guides, and customer-specific security requirements.
• Strong working knowledge of personnel security, physical security, classified information management, security education and training, incident reporting, and inspection readiness.
• Completion of an FSO Program Management for Possessing Facilities course and other DCSA Center for Development of Security Excellence (CDSE) security training, with certificates of completion.
• Experience using government security systems, including DISS, NISS, and SIMS, and familiarity with SAM.gov and current personnel vetting and investigation processes.
• Working knowledge of applicable security forms and documentation, including SF-86, SF-312, SF-700, SF-702, SF-328, DD Form 254, and DD Forms 441/441-1.
• Experience conducting security self-inspections and compliance assessment reviews, supporting government assessments, identifying vulnerabilities, developing corrective actions, and implementing risk mitigation measures.
• Experience developing and delivering security briefings, indoctrinations, debriefings, foreign travel briefings, and other required security education.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret government and company security requirements and apply those requirements to complex program and facility operations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate security requirements and risks effectively to employees, program managers, senior leadership, and government customers.
• Demonstrated judgment and ability to make independent security decisions involving sensitive programs, classified information, and high-value contracts.
• Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic operational environment; strong team orientation and flexibility.
• Must possess an active Top Secret clearance and be able to meet eligibility requirements for SCI access and DOE Q.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting DOE security requirements and programs.
• Experience supporting Collateral, SCI, SAP, or other specialized classified environments.
• Working knowledge of other relevant DoD security guidance, including DoD Manual 5205.07 and Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) standards.
• Industrial Security Professional (ISP) certification, Certified Protection Professional (CPP) certification, or other relevant professional security certification.
• Experience with classified facility accreditation, secure area construction, or modification of approved classified spaces.
• Working knowledge of access control systems, intrusion detection systems, alarm response requirements, and physical security technologies.
• Experience developing and implementing Operations Security (OPSEC) plans.
• Experience conducting security incident inquiries and preparing formal reports, including administrative inquiries, for government customers.
• Experience supporting courier requirements and preparation of classified material for authorized transmission or transportation.
• Experience supporting proposals, contract transitions, new program starts, and security-related contract closeout activities.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop security professionals while building strong partnerships across programs, functions, and government customers.
• Relevant professional certifications and affiliations within the industrial security community.

Pay Range: Pay Range $105,300.00 - $190,350.00
