Electromechanical Design Engineer


Purpose:


  • Valkyrie Enterprises is looking for an Electromechanical Engineer in Huntsville, AL, to support a newly funded program for the design, development, integration, and test of containerized missile launchers.



Job Description:


  • Conducts and supports the development of requirements and the analysis, design, development, integration and test of electromechanical systems for military products.

  • Participates in the development of trade studies, analysis of alternatives, and capability analysis of Power Electronics with focus in actuator control & battery technologies.

  • Supports CAD modeling of military systems to include schematics, wiring diagrams, and Bill of Materials (BOMs).

  • Supports electrical system and performance modeling and analysis of military systems to include power budgets, environmental risks, system electrical response.

  • Supports multiple engineering tasks simultaneously.

  • Collaborates continuously and participates in integrated product and technical teams.

  • Provides liaison engineering between Valkyrie and other design organizations.

  • Supports development and planning for the integration and test of military systems.



Qualifications:


  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering or science field and at least 10-15 years of experience in electrical systems hardware integration.

  • Must have electromechanical and hardware systems design experience.

  • Must have eCAD modeling knowledge with preferred experience using Altium Designer.

  • Must have MS Office Suite experience.

  • Must have experience with modeling and performance analysis.

  • Must have a passion for solving problems and providing workable solutions. 

  • Must have strong analytical and reasoning skills and ability to visualize processes and outcomes. 

  • Must have outstanding all-round communication and presentation skills, and ability to work collaboratively. 

  • Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail. 

  • Must have proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.

  • Must have strong customer service orientation.

  • Must have knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.  This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, equipment, and tools to the design, manufacture, integration, and test of various hardware and services.



Desired Qualifications:


  • Prefer experience with mechanism (e.g., actuators, sensors, and automated machinery) design, development and test.

  • Prefer familiarity with developing technical design packages for complex engineering systems.

  • Prefer experience with presenting and defending technical designs and analyses.

  • Familiarization with Army fixed and/or transportable rocket launcher and Tactical Operation Center command, control, and communication development, hardware and electrical integration, and operation preferred. 

  • Prefer experience with flight test preparation and support.



Security Requirements:


  • Must be eligible to obtain a Secret Clearance, and ability to maintain it. 



Travel Requirements:


  • Occasional Travel; 25% or less.

  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:


  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods, moving about to accomplish tasks, or moving from one worksite to another.

  • Able to sit and work on a computer for long periods of time.

  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.

  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
