Behavioral Specialist - Mid
This position requires an active TS/Sensitive Compartmental Information (SCI) .
A government contract requires that this position be restricted to U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents. You must provide documentation that you are a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident to qualify.
Cherokee Insights is seeking a Behavioral Specialist - Mid to support the Behavioral Threat Analysis Center (BTAC). The Behavioral Specialist will provide support services to assist in applying behavioral analysis methodologies, as well as identifying and addressing key challenges across the spectrum of insider threat.
Compensation & Benefits:
Estimated Starting Salary Range for Behavioral Specialist - Mid: $190,000.00 to $220,000.00
Pay commensurate with experience.

Behavioral Specialist - Mid Responsibilities Include:
- Provide behavioral science consultations to Depart of War (DoW) Insider Threat (InT) Management and Analysis Center (DITMAC) cases on a regular and recurring basis.
- Produce professional risk-based recommendations and potential steps to mitigate or address risk behaviors.
- Provide psychological assessments, information and advice on matters regarding behavioral motivations and intentions.
- Provide interaction strategies in support of DITMAC analytical findings/recommendations provided to DoW Component insider threat programs that may have significant national security implications.
- Within established timelines, brief the initial findings of psychological assessments to senior DITMAC officials and key stakeholders from the DoW Component Insider Threat programs who are responsible for maintaining program security and/or administering access eligibility determinations.
- Provide support to senior management initiatives on psychological factors impacting insider threat assessments.
- Provide support to professionalizing the Insider Threat community through the administration of an approved continuing education program.
- Develop behavioral indicators that help to prevent, deter, detect, and mitigate actions by malicious insiders who represent a threat to national security or DoW personnel, facilities, operations, and resources.
- Provide training courses on specific behavioral indicators of insider threat, as required.
- Assist with informing and refining the development of assessment instruments used to identify potential risk behaviors indicative of an insider threat.
- Conduct targeted research on different aspects of insider threat, both physical and logical (e.g., exfiltration and workplace violence).
- Produce reports and talking points because of targeted research on different aspects of insider threat, both physical and logical, as well as continuous education on behavioral issues.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Behavioral Specialist - Mid Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- Must have a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Psychology or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD), with a clinical and/or forensic background, and be actively licensed in clinical forensic or police and public safety.
- Actively licensed psychologist in any of the 50 States or territories.
- Possess a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the field of clinical and/or forensic psychology.
- Have a forensic background with experience in at least one of the two areas of operations:
- Threat assessment
- Support to counterintelligence
- Understanding of making eligibility and access determinations for sensitive information related to workplace violence prevention.
- A demonstrated understanding of the DoW population through work experience directly supporting the military or DoW.
- Experience in collaborating with the greater threat professional community.
- American Board of Professional Psychology Certification in either clinical forensic or police and public safety.
